Summary:  

The Technical Consultant will provide technical leadership as well as perform system upgrades, day to day support, and enhancements to ensure our LIMS platform(s) are reliable, compliant, and optimized for business value.  This role plays a key part in the rationalization and consolidation of Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) into a streamlined ecosystem.  This position does not formally supervise any other position but may operate as a mentor, as needed, to less experienced IT professionals or interns.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Lifecycle Management (50%):

  • Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) and advisor for LIMS platforms across the Americas. supporting system lifecycle activities in collaboration with the business process owner(s)
  • Lead the consolidation and standardization of multiple LIMS instances, contributing to architecture design, migration, planning, and implementation in collaboration with the business process owner(s)

Enhancements (20%):

  • Lead the implementation of new instances including requirements definition, design, configuration, user acceptance testing, deployment, and hyper care activities
  • Foster collaboration between the business and iTeam to assess needs, define requirements, and propose system improvements
  • Facilitate LIMS upgrades, validation efforts, and patch deployments in line with change control procedures
  • Contribute to global governance and the continuous improvement of LIMS-related processes and tools
  • Develop and implement strategies for process improvement

Support (30%):

  • Triage and respond to user support requests, escalating when necessary to ensure high-quality resolution
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and data integrity requirements
  • Support LIMS upgrades, validation efforts, and patch deployments in line with change control procedures
  • Maintain documentation and technical notes for
  • Solutions and their configuration
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Regression testing scripts and results
  • Training materials
  • Contribute to compliance documentation and audit preparation as needed
  • Advise and implement best practices

Minimum Qualifications and Education Required 

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with LIMS platforms (e.g., Thermo Fisher Sample Manager).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Exposure to manufacturing or lab environments preferred
