JOB SUMMARY

 

Arkema is seeking a Business Development Engineer to join our Thiochemicals Business Unit, supporting growth initiatives across North America. This role is instrumental in expanding our DMS, DMDS, and Carelflex® Services portfolios, with a strategic focus on the Refinery, Renewable Energy, and Petrochemical markets.

 

The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise, commercial insight, and strategic thinking to identify new opportunities, define customer value propositions, and drive market development plans. This position involves direct client engagement, coordination of technical support, and collaboration with cross-functional teams including R&D and marketing.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Business Development Activity

  • Generate and manage leads through direct outreach, web inquiries, and industry networking.
  • Drive customer engagement by actively following up on projects and opportunities to ensure timely execution.
  • Analyze market dynamics, competitive landscape, and value chains to identify strategic growth areas.

 

Marketing/Communication Activities

  • Represent Arkema at trade shows, conferences, and industry events to promote products and services.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, articles, and papers to support brand visibility.
  • Collaborate with marketing and business teams to implement targeted branding strategies.

 

Reporting/Internal Communication and Processes

  • Maintain accurate records of business development activities using Arkema’s CRM tools (e.g., call reports, account plans).
  • Prepare and present monthly activity summaries and pipeline updates to leadership and peers.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across global business teams to align strategies and encourage cross-regional collaboration.

 

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required; MS or Ph.D is preferred. MBA is also preferred.

 

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in catalyst sulfiding, steam cracking, or furnace technology.
  • Preferred background in business development, field marketing, or technical sales.
  • Strong expertise in at least one target market: Refinery, Renewable Energy, or Petrochemicals.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills; able to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing priorities independently in a remote work environment.
  • Effective collaborator with experience working across diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Skilled in analyzing data, identifying trends, and translating insights into strategic actions.
  • Experience planning and executing trade shows, sponsorships, and marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present complex ideas clearly to varied audiences.
