Job Summary
Control, operate, or ten equipment in which a chemical charging reaction takes place in the process of industrial or consumer products. Typical equipment used include: K80, K81 kettles, raw material storage, Cooling belt, and packaging equipment.
Responsibilities include operation of kettles, unloading of raw materials, packaging of finished products, preparing and maintaining process records, sampling and quality testing, and other general production activities or any other duties as directed by site manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
STAGGING MATERIALS
- Operates forklift to load and unload trailers, tank wagons, and railcars.
- Unloads tank wagons of raw materials for use in processing.
- Operates forklift to move material within the plant facility.
- Pre-stages raw materials for and packaging per the batch card/slip for efficiency of process to endure materials are ready.
CHARGING TANKS AND KETTLE
- Reads plant specifications to ascertain product, ingredient, formulas, instruction, and prescribed modifications of plant procedures.
- Starts pumps and agitators, turns valves, or moves controls of processing equipment to admit, transfer, filter, or mix chemicals, or to drain specified amounts of materials, impurities, or rating agents to or from equipment to prepare or further process materials.
- Loads specified amounts of chemicals into processing equipment to manufacture a batch.
- Weighs, measures, counts, or mixes prescribed quantities or materials to manufacture a batch.
MONITORING
- Moves controls to adjust feed and flow through equipment in a specified sequence to maintain system within specified operating conditions.
- Draws sample of products to test for viscosity color, OH# and acid value to aid in process adjustments and maintain production standards.
- Operates or tends auxiliary equipment, such as heaters, scrubbers, filters, to further process materials.
- Patrols work area to detect leaks and equipment malfunctions and monitor operating conditions.
- Assists maintenance n areas where needed to endure efficient processes.
- Observes safety precautions to prevent fires and explosions.
PACKAGING MATERIALS
- Examines products or work to verify conformance to specifications.
- Puts material into bags, sacks, and drums to meet order requirements.
- Removes any materials that do not conform to specifications for re-packaging.
Minimum Years of Experience
Minimum one year of chemical processing preferred.
Education and area of focus
High School Diploma or general educations degree (GED)

- Records data from instruments and gauges concerning temperature, pressure, materials used and treating time in a log to maintain historical and quality record.
- Notifies maintenance and a supervisor of equipment malfunctions to ensue timely and quality production.
- Records quaintly filled and material location for tacking purposes.
- Operate the plant and process equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to and contributing to the improvement of operating discipline.
- Accountable for the safe isolation, preparation, and permitting of maintenance activities in the process area.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- This is a plant-based position.
- Must have the ability to stand, walk, and sit on a frequent basis.
