JOB DIMENSIONS:
Provide financial leadership and analytical support for multiple US manufacturing facilities, tollers, trans loaders and warehouse locations. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial results, strong cost accounting discipline, and high-quality planning and forecasting for plant operations, while partnering with sites leadership to improve operational performance.

 

ACTIVITIES:
Financial Close, Reporting and Controls

  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial results for assigned sites, including understanding manufacturing variances, inventory impacts and cost center activity.
  • Identify required accruals and coordinate journal entries with Business Operations Accounting.
  • Perform account analyses related to inventory, production costs and fixed assets.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with corporate policies, IFRS/local standards and internal controls.
  • Update monthly dashboards on manufacturing costs, material and inventory variances, CAPEX etc.

Cost Accounting, Inventory and Operational Variances

  • Maintain product costing, Bills of Materials, absorption rates and cost allocation methodologies.
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation and coordinate physical counts and reconciliations.
  • Analyze and explain manufacturing variances including yield, inventory adjustments, and non-performing stock reserves (cost of poor quality)
  • Partner with operations to capture true manufacturing costs and identify improvement opportunities.

Recurring Production Expenses (RPE) and monitoring fixed costs

  • Prepare and analyze the monthly Recurring Production Expenses (RPE) report, including variance analysis versus budget and prior periods.
  • Lead preparation of the RPE budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Support plant leadership in monitoring production spending and cost drivers.

Budgeting, Forecasting and Workforce Cost Analysis

  • Lead the annual budget and periodic forecasts for assigned sites.
  • Prepare and analyze headcount and overtime reports and workforce cost trends.
  • Explain cost drivers, operational trends and deviations versus plan.
  • Support working capital and inventory forecasting as needed.

Business Partnership with Operations

  • Partner with plant leadership to understand performance and communicate financial impacts.
  • Provide recommendations to improve efficiency, productivity and profitability.
  • Advise plant staff on spending management and financial decision-making.

Capital and Asset Management

  • Support capital project tracking, capitalization and depreciation in coordination with accounting.
  • Participate in evaluation of capital investments.
  • Safeguard plant assets through periodic observation and validation.
  • Continuous Improvement and Support
  • Improve SAP and financial processes related to costing, reporting and inventory management.
  • Develop tools and analyses to enhance visibility into plant performance.
  • Provide analytical support to the Regional FP&A US Leader on ad-hoc requests.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
In Depth knowledge of general accounting principles
Some experience in a manufacturing environment; Process Manufacturing a plus 
Experience using SAP or other ERP system a plus
Ability to create ad-hoc and moderately complex analyses
Proficient with Excel - pivot tables/more complex functions
Ability to work with minimal supervision
