Annual Salary Range $95,000 - $120,000 (pending experiance)

The Maintenance Engineer ensures equipment, machinery, and building systems run smoothly through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs, focusing on reliability and efficiency. Key duties include diagnosing faults, repairing mechanical/electrical issues, creating maintenance procedures, managing budgets, and ensuring safety compliance, often involving hands-on work with PLCs and industrial technology. The role bridges technical knowledge with practical problem-solving to optimize performance and minimize downtime across various industries. 

Activities

  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues before they escalate
  • Work closely with maintenance technicians to quickly troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment problems, implement the best solutions and return equipment to an optional state as soon as possible.
  • Identify and implement the ideal tools and techniques for the maintenance technicians to solve technical problems
  • Provide training to mechanics and / or operators on the operation of maintenance equipment.
  • Work with the reliability engineer to develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to maximize equipment uptime
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and upgrades
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production processes and enhance equipment reliability
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standard operating procedures during maintenance activities
  • Assists with definitions and tracking of Key Performance Indicators for site equipment and maintenance teams.
  • Coordinates with area owners and project engineers in analyzing equipment problems, performing root cause investigations, and determining solutions.
  • Assists in coordinating the activities of outside contractors as appropriate to maintenance engineering objectives.
  • Participates in plant health study and efforts to implement corrective action to maintain or improve plant health.  
  • Liaison between Maintenance and Project Engineering in the development, design and installation of capital projects.
  • Adheres strongly to the management of change process to ensure that reviews are completed thoroughly, risks are adequately assessed, and personnel are properly trained prior to implementing changes in the production facility.
  • Develop engineering solutions to equipment problems, including ways of reducing or eliminating the need for maintenance through equipment replacement or improvement work.
  • Manage capital and expense projects to repair and install new facility equipment such as for safety equipment, HVACs, roofs, air compressors, parking lots, security fencing, and other utilities.  

Context and environment 

  • A fast-paced environment where you are involved in a wide variety of functions and activities.
  • Use of computer software, both PC based and enterprise system, combined with frequent interpersonal communication.  
  • Most of the time will be spent in the plant supporting maintenance operations. 

Accountabilities 

  • Troubleshoot and solve maintenance problems with robust solutions.  
  • Support plant maintenance as a technical resource.
  • Use data to make decisions and suggest both long- and short-term improvements. 

Qualifications / Experience Required 

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering other science discipline.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Demonstrate and validate expertise of both the technology and the continuous improvement process, including:
  • Fundamental principles (mass balance, energy balance, process parameters, governing equations)  
  • Plant unit knowledge (tracing lines, equipment, process control technology)  
  • Knowledge of key continuous improvement systems (Six Sigma, LEAN)
