Job Title: Instrumentation and Electrical Mechanic
Situation in Organization
- This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Job Dimensions
- This highly skilled job exists to manage a broad spectrum of electrical work, interpreting electrical diagrams/schematics, utilizing electrical diagnostic equipment, troubleshooting of all electrical control circuitry and distribution equipment, revising and designing of said circuitry, and proper switching and isolation of equipment.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
Instrumentation (40%):
- Perform highly diversified instrumentation duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment
- Understand, execute, and follow all procedures in the execution of maintenance activities
- Test all equipment worked on for proper operation prior to turnover to production
- Use Power Equipment (power hand tools, grinders, drill press, saws, press)
- Fabrication (Reading Prints, Developing Isometric Drawings, Follow engineering standards)
- Read and understand equipment drawings, manuals, and documentation
- Use a variety of test and diagnostic meters as well as electronic instrument calibration devices
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance, calibration and service
- Diagnose problems, replace, repair, test and make adjustments to instrumentation
- Work on digital and analog computer machine interfacing
Electrical (40%):
- Perform highly diversified electrical duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment
- Diagnose problems, replace, repair, test and make adjustments to electrical equipment
- Electrical duties would include preventive maintenance of motors and other electrical apparatus (switchgear, MCC’s, VFD’s, power panels, etc.)
- Knowledge of the NEC
- Read and interpret One-line drawings, electrical/electronic schematics and related drawings/diagrams
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E
Other duties (20%):
- Operation of Lifting Equipment (Fork Truck, Boom Lift, Scissor Lift, etc.)
- Understand, execute, and follow all procedures in the execution of maintenance activities
- Document Maintenance work for Governmental and Permit Compliance
- Log time and able to describe work done in work order system
- Use Database Software to Acquire parts needed for Job
- Scope and Plan jobs
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment and plant facilities
- Update maintenance records and equipment history as needed
- Communicate with outside vendors or contractors to help on capital project work
- Maintains a clean work environment
- Executes all tasks necessary as assigned to support plant operations, such tasks may be of an unskilled or skilled nature
- Provide feedback to supervision pertaining to any abnormal equipment observations
- Read company communications weekly, i.e. production advisories, emails, etc.
- Complete scheduled periodic training on time and as required
- Other duties as assigned
Context and Environment
- Follow All Plant Safety Procedures and Policies (LOTO, SWP, etc.)
- Use of Proper PPE for Job and Area (Respirators, Harnesses, Chemical Suits)
- Conformance to Plant Permits and Certifications (ISO, cGMP, Title V, FDA, RCRA, SWWP)
- Work at elevated heights (platforms, scaffolding, ladders and grating)
- Ensures compliance of regulatory and plant safety and environmental requirements with special emphasis on Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Demonstrates commitment to HES through high visibility and actions.
- Maintenance work will occasionally require confined space entries, working at elevated heights, using respirators, working outdoors, etc.
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience
- Requires a HS diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or a journeyman electrical license, or an equivalent number of years of education and electrical or instrumentation experience. Documentation of training/experience must be available.
- 4+ years of manufacturing experience; strong electrical or instrumentation and industrial skills.
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
- Knowledgeable in virtually all electrical applications and intricacies specific to the Memphis site.
Demonstrated Competencies
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft office, Email, etc.)
- Be on Call and Work overtime as need to keep plant up and running
