Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Turnaround and CAPEX Lead who directly reports to Reliability Engineering and Projects Manager.

 

The Turnaround CAPEX Lead is responsible for managing and executing all turnaround and capital project activities in accordance with the Arkema Turnaround Manual, Arkema AGATE Manual, and industry best practices.   Annual Turnaround and CAPEX spend ranges between $5-10 million.

 

Responsible for complying with all AIMS HESQ policies & practices including ISO-9001, OHSAS-18001 and RCMS. Responsible for overall plant mechanical integrity, repair strategies and overall enforcement of best practice and regulatory/industry standards – e.g. For example, ASME, API, NBIC, NACE, OSHA, EPA TCEQ, etc.  Supports the continual development of the plant Reliability program and assist maintenance & operations with day-to-day plant support.  Responsible for supporting the development of technical scope for plant turnarounds & outages

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Safety Engagement:

  • Participates in plant safety processes and programs.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) protocols for plant projects or reliability improvements.
  • Ensure plant projects are designed and installed in compliance with all applicable Codes and Standards.

 

Manage & execute planned turnarounds:

  • Lead all aspects of Turnaround preparation, execution and close out in alignment with Arkema’s turn around work process.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the development and review of turnaround strategy and work scope.
  • Direct turnaround support with the assembly of comprehensive work plans, schedules, and outlines for corrective and preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Coordinate with production personnel for equipment preparation and safe work permitting.
  • Prepare comprehensive turnaround budgets.
  • With GASP support, lead contractor selection and ensure technical and safe work qualifications are aligned to expectations.
  • Develop all turnaround Gate process documentation and deliver stakeholder communications.
  • Manage daily progress of the Turnaround, working with all contractors and site personnel.
  • Conduct daily Turnaround update meetings and ensure regular stakeholder communications on Turnaround progress.
  • Keep track of and report on all turnaround Key Performance Indicators (cost, work hours, schedule compliance, etc.).
  • Complete Turnaround close-out documentation including final turnaround report and critique.
  • Continuously improve the turnaround process/strategy by incorporating best practices and lessons learned from Turnaround critiques.
  • Continuously improve the turnaround job scopes by incorporating learnings in the SAP archived job plans and scopes.

 

Project manager:

  • In parallel with the turnaround, act as Project Manager for multiple CAPEX projects (often directly linked to turnaround activities) and deliver them from feasibility through execution, in full alignment with Arkema’s AGATE project management standards.

 

Required Education/Qualifications/Work experience 

  1. Minimum 5-7 years’ experience working in chemical manufacturing environment is required.
  2. Demonstrated experience in Turnaround and Capital Project planning and execution.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work within SAP (or equivalent) to include Work Order, Storeroom, Project, and Purchasing systems
  4. B.S. in engineering discipline strongly preferred.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communications skills to communicate with plant workforce, Arkema’s technical organization, business leaders, and third party service providers. 
  6. Highly motivated team player able to work at a fast pace.
  7. Previous experience managing direct/indirect reports will be a plus. 
  8. Excellent judgment and problem analysis skills are required as well as tolerance for stress. 
  9. Ability to technically understand and troubleshoot all types of equipment in a chemical manufacturing environment in order support reliable operations. 
  10. Desire to develop, train, and coach direct/indirect reports.
  11. Proficient computer skills, competent with software programs including SAP, Microsoft, PowerBI, etc.
  12. Strong knowledge and background in project management.
