Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for Contract Coordinator to support our Houston facility. The Contract coordinator position is a Arkema permanent position that reports to the Maintenance Manager at the Arkema Houston site. The site is located on the east side of the Houston area with approximately 70 employees producing sulfur-based products.  This position will be responsible for all non-resident service contractors that periodically work at the Houston site, along with coordinating efforts of priority work.  The scope of the position to include site onboarding, scheduling, pre-job analysis, facilitating permitting activities, mitigating execution pitfalls, update job execution status, and invoicing of the contractors.  The role is also responsible for ensuring that all AIMS HESQ policies & practices (ISO-9001, ISO-14001, ISO-45001 & RCMS) are followed. This includes compliance with OSHA 1910, environmental regulations and permits, quality systems, and safe work permit practices.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Safety

  • Engages in corporate and site safety policies and initiatives. (The Essentials, SWAT, CHATS-BBS etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident, or injury incidents.
  • Ensures safe work practices and policies are being followed. Permitting, Waste Disposal, Decontamination of equipment, PPE.
  • Regularly monitors contract job sites for safety/housekeeping compliance

 

Work Execution

  • Plans, schedules, and aligns site and contract resources in executing all contract service and emergency priority work, working closely with the Production Maintenance Coordinator, Daily Planner, and Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Provides as a “facility contact” upon the arrival and permitting of all outside service contractors.
  • Facilitates between contractor and owning department all permitting requirements.
  • Performs job walks with Arkema support staff for scope creation, planning, scheduling and reconcile execution concerns.
  • Manages contractor execution and RTO when work is complete, reporting schedule updates to the Production Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Supports SMART initiatives. 
  • Coordinates onboarding efforts, facilitates pre-job assessments and execution of scheduled activities during plant outages.
  • Documents and communicates contractor performance and incidents as needed with required Arkema resources. (Safety and GASP).
  • Engage in outage/turnaround and large CAPEX project critiques and assists with closing gaps.
  • Responsible for managing contractor invoice workflow.

 

Technical/System Management

  • Maintains supporting knowledge of piping specifications for the Houston Plant.
  • Maintains and tracks materials specific to SAP work orders related to scope of job.
  • Engages with Arkema resources to review service contractor repair/PM reports and initiate appropriate requests as needed per policy.
  • Manages contractor compliance with third party screening company. (Avetta/ISN)
  • Participates in investigations related to work execution of on-site resources along with service contractors. 
  • Manages spending by utilizing the change order process and invoicing.
  • Works with Engineering/SME (Subject Matter Expert) on resolutions to issues on discovery work in the field, which is subject to; field walks, researching parts/tools needed for completing tasks.

 

Required Education/Qualifications/Work experience 

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a field coordination role. (Planning, scheduling, work activity, etc.)
  • 5 years previous experience of an industrial setting craft.
  • Previous experience or training in the Petrochemical Industry performing similar work.
  • Ability to understand and demonstrate effective problem resolution and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to have a comprehensive understanding of all elements of a processing unit and the required effort of task execution.
  • Self-starting behavior to engage in safety initiatives and systemic workflows for continued improvement.
  • Ability to evaluate with attention to detail the agreed work with service contractors to minimize rework and increase productivity and reliability.
  • High level of thorough communication, with the ability to facilitate meetings, and work activities as needed.
  • Knowledge and capability of computer-based systems to manage work through (Microsoft applications, SAP, Business management software – Atlas.)
