JOB SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the Business Manager, with a dotted line to Global New Business Manager(s), the Business Development Engineer III supports growth initiatives for the Thiochemicals Business Unit in North America. This role focuses on identifying, developing, and commercializing new business opportunities across refinery, renewable energy, and petrochemical markets. Operating with a high level of autonomy, the BDE III manages a portfolio of ongoing opportunities, partners closely with customers and cross‑functional teams, and independently resolves complex technical‑commercial challenges while recommending strategic paths forward. This role is well suited for experienced engineers looking to broaden their business impact while leveraging strong technical expertise.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Business Development & Market Growth

  • Identify and advance new business opportunities in targeted North American markets.
  • Manage a portfolio of opportunities from early evaluation through commercialization.
  • Support market expansion initiatives through technical, commercial, and marketing efforts.
  • Assess market needs and contribute to value proposition development.
  • Independently resolve complex technical‑commercial challenges and recommend strategic paths forward.

 

Technical & Commercial Execution

  • Coordinate technical service and commercialization activities with R&D, BDI, and Commercial teams.
  • Analyze value chains, competitive positioning, and market dynamics to support opportunity development.
  • Support identification of new applications and product development opportunities.

 

Partnerships & External Representation

  • Support strategic partnerships, including Joint Development Agreements (JDAs) and Joint Ventures (JVs).
  • Represent Arkema with customers and at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
  • Support external visibility through technical and commercial presentations.

 

Reporting & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Share market intelligence, customer insights, and opportunity updates with regional and global stakeholders.
  • Track and report business development activities and pipelines using CRM and standard reporting tools.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure alignment with business objectives and growth strategies.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
  • Master’s degree, PhD, or MBA (preferred)

 

Experience, Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years in an R&D, technical, or Business Development Engineer role.
  • Experience in refinery, renewable energy, petrochemical, or related markets (preferred).
  • Strong technical foundation with sound business judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and influence cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communicator with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

 

Travel

  • Up to approximately 40–50% travel, primarily within North America, with occasional international travel.
