JOB SUMMARY

This job reports to the HR Manager. The Training Specialist is responsible for the training program of the site and to improve current processes related to onboarding and training of plant employees.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following are the key activities and responsibilities of the role:

TRAINING 95%:

  • Create training to support business including e-learning, videos and other delivery formats or materials and work with subject matter experts
  • Manage, apply and ensure disbursement of Texas Workforce Training Grant annually
  • Conducts positional training needs assessments by meeting with each department quarterly to update the training matrix, then assigned training in the LMS module of our SuccessFactors system.
  • Create an hourly internship program for execution with partnership with San Jacinto or other local community college
  • Identify competency gaps of employees and recommend training offerings
  • Conducts periodic training system assessments and audits to ensure that appropriate training is being assigned to and completed by all plant personnel to meet regulatory, corporate, federal requirements, and address any specific needs.
  • Create monthly progress report to the plant manager and Regional HR Manager. Evaluate metrics and cost analysis based on training gaps.. KPls include: % compliance with required training, # personnel meeting progression
  • Tracks all training surveys and evaluations efforts for instructor led and computer-based training.
  • Conducts positional training needs assessments to assist with identification of performance improvement plan objectives to develop training initiatives consistent with current and future goals.
  • Ensure compliance trainings are complete and up to date
  • Design and implement communications and marketing to encourage utilization of training platforms and courses as development opportunities
  • Create and implement hands on training for all departments
  • Manages progression timeline and check point process for all departments
  • Develop and improve Operator training timelines and process
  • Onboarding and Orientation implementation and planning
  • Participate in audits
  • Involved in the entire onboarding process which may include interviewing
  • Manage Operator testing and onboarding process
  • Create and implement Teambuilding and Training events for the plant.
  • Initiate new hire MOCs training checklist

OTHER PROJECTS- 5%

  • Willing to participate in career fairs including but not limited to, PVAMU, San Jacinto College, Women in Industry as needed
  • Backup payroll administrator
  • Backup Records Retention Manager- ensuring on site files are following retention schedule
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications and Education Required

Min Years of Experience

  • 5+year’s experience in HR, Training or in a manufacturing environment.
  • Facilitation experience a plus.
  • 3+ years experience with HR/Learning Management System preferred

Education and area of focus

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Associates degree in related field required

Certifications/Trainings:

 

Competencies -Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

  • High degree of computer literacy. Working knowledge of PC based applications used for training media development and excel.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in order to effectively communicate with all levels of plant, professional and management personnel.
  • Must be self-driven with highly developed organizational skills and demonstrated ability to perform with minimal direction.
  • Must be familiar with plant level operations and adult education challenges.
  • Facilitation experience a plus.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to be trusted with confidential and sensitive information
  • Excellent problem solving, detail orientation and prioritization skills
  • Self-starter/strong initiative
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and creative
  • Working knowledge of design thinking / innovation process
  • Demonstrated experience with multiple modern business intelligence platforms
  • Demonstrated skill in business partnering, instructional design knowledge and learning creation software (such as Articulate)
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced PowerPoint and presentation skill level
  • Must be comfortable and proficient with computers and computer systems.
  • Must have demonstrated skills in and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

 

  • This position is located in a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • The position will be required to spend 25-50% of time in the field developing and implementing hands on training
  • Travel requirements-5% for local recruiting events and collaboration with Houston & Beaumont plants networking
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.).
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident, or injury incidents.
  • Understands and supports the Clear Lake Facility Acrylic Monomers HSE2Q Commitment
