JOB SUMMARY
This position is in the Engineering and Reliability Department and reports directly to the Engineering and Reliability Manager
The Sr. Lead Electrical Engineer will oversee long term plant electrical infrastructure improvement/reliability initiatives and interface with the appropriate maintenance, process, HES, and operations to drive the site electrical infrastructure improvement
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sr. Lead Electrical Engineer daily activities-55%
- Subject matter expert for the site electrical infrastructure including but not limited to:
- High, medium, and low voltage distribution (switchgears, cables, transformers, MCC, protection relays, etc)
- Electrical motors, Variable Speed Drive (VSD), soft starters, and UPS
- Grounding, lighting, and lightning protection
- Emergency generation
- Provide technical leadership on maintenance, assessment and troubleshooting of the plant electrical infrastructure
- Develop long term improvement plans for the plant electrical infrastructure reliability
- Lead plant electrical infrastructure reliability studies on existing plant electrical systems and recommend needed improvements to key stakeholders
- Provide or validate specifications for electricidal infrastructure design studies
- Provide technical expertise in regard to electrical infrastructure project scope development, project feasibility assessment, and project implementation
- Contribute to development of plant electrical infrastructure standards that will maximize reliability, efficiency, design, and spare part synergy
- Develop auditing protocol for electrical system repairs and audit contracted repair organizations
- Develop 5-year capital plan for electrical infrastructure and add to the plant capital project portfolio
- Subject matter expert for the site electrical infrastructure including but not limited to:
- Failure Analysis - 30%
- Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on electrical infrastructure failures and analyze data using appropriate reliability analysis tools to develop and implement corrective improvement plans
- Leadership accountability to ensure that data collected is accurate and addresses the appropriate failure modes of facility electrical infrastructure
- Provides management team with well written and oral presentations with necessary information and supporting analysis to make appropriate business decisions.
- Develop/approve equipment repairs per local/national codes and RAGAGEPs.
- Propose electrical infrastructure material of construction and other design changes to improve electrical infrastructure reliability
- Document Management - 5%
- Audit/evaluate contracted repair organizations and inspect repairs
- Accountable to develop and maintain documentation of emergency/temporary electrical infrastructure repairs
- Ensure electrical infrastructure records are managing properly
- Utilizing proper Arkema documentation systems as the location for the electrical infrastructure records
- Communication - 5%
- Working effectively with several cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with all levels of the organization
- Accountable to assist plant management in establishing an acceptable level of risk for the plant electrical infrastructure
- Providing strategic insight to the site electrical infrastructure annual operating cost, strategic plan, and capital budget
- Being the recognized expert of electrical infrastructure repairs and inspection techniques
- Accountable for communication of the status of plant electrical infrastructure to appropriate stakeholders
MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 8 years of work experience in the design, repair, maintenance, reliability, failure modes, and/or inspection of electrical infrastructure
- Experience with reliability tools such as RCFA, FMEA
- Thorough understanding of electrical infrastructure maintenance, repairs, and reliability
- Knowledge of applicable RAGAGEPs including NFPA 70 (NEC), ANSI/NETA, IEEE, and PIP standards (electrical)
EDUCATION AND AREA OF FOCUS
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering
COMPETENCIES – KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of a broad range of industry standards including NFPA, PIP, ANSI, API, and IEEE
- Skilled in interpreting electrical diagrams/schematics and loop drawings
- Skilled in electrical infrastructure design and maintenance
- Strong experience with industrial computer systems, motor control, PLCs and DCS. Experience with analog and digital signals, HART Protocol and process communication network systems.
- Good written and oral communication skills to interface with operations and maintenance personnel
- Ability to follow maintenance procedures for equipment
- Ability to read, understand and utilize equipment drawings and P&ID’s
- Works well in teams
