JOB SUMMARY
This position is in the Maintenance Department. Maintenance and Capital Project Cost Analyst reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and has dotted line (matrix) reporting to the Engineering and Reliability Manger
Maintenance and Capital Project Cost Analyst is responsible for maintenance spending (fixed cost) forecast and cost control. The Maintenance and Capital Project Cost Analyst is also accountable for plant capital project cost control and schedule development. The Maintenance and Capital Project Cost Analyst will work with appropriate maintenance, project, turnaround, and accounting to ensure accurate maintenance and capital project spending/reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintenance and Capital Project Cost Analyst daily activities-85%
- Develops/updates maintenance and capital project cost tracking systems
- Works closely with accounting, maintenance planners, project managers, and construction manager to report accurate spending forecast (maintenance and capital projects) and identify/communicate variances to forecast/budget
- Leads maintenance spending weekly meeting
- Investigate and implement corrective action for maintenance and capital project overruns
- Ensures PO log is updated on timely manner
- Works closely with Project Managers/Construction Manager to establish project specific controls
- Assists in the review and analysis of project changes and costs during design, construction, and start up phases of project
- Develop/update plant cost tracking procedures/guidelines
- Supports project PO updates, invoices, project closing, and end of the year accruals
- Assists Project Manager/Construction Manager in determining correctness of change orders
- Recommends corrective actions to minimize cost or schedule impact
- Supports project managers in developing project schedules from conceptual through execution phases
- Maintains and controls project schedule throughout all phases of the project until completion/closing
- Supports construction and project managers with turnaround scheduling coordination activities
- Document Management - 5%
- Supports contractor performance audit/evaluation
- Accountable to develop and maintain documentation of cost control and project schedule
- Ensure cost controls records are managing properly
- Utilizing proper Arkema documentation systems as the location for cost controls and project schedule records
- HES Support and MOC Action Items - 5%
- HSE responsibilities include but are not restricted to those outlined in leadership expectations such as reporting any incident in a timely manner
- Championing continuous improvement for the department in all areas of HES
- Communication - 5%
- Working effectively with several cross-functional teams and communicating effectively with all levels of the organization
- Actively involved in internal and industry organizations and maintain a strong professional network
- Collect and analysis internal and industrial benchmarks to utilize for project evaluations, cost controls and continuous improvements
- Providing strategic insight to the maintenance annual operating cost, strategic plan, and capital budget/spending
- Accountable for communication of the status of maintenance and capital project spending to appropriate stakeholders
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIRED
Min Years of Experience
- Minimum 8 years of work experience in project controls, cost estimating/control, and project schedule
- Thorough understanding of project management and project execution strategies.
- Working knowledge of Aspen Capital Cost Estimator (ACCE) and Primavera P6 is preferred.
- Working knowledge of SAP is required
- Advanced Excel knowledge is required
- Accounting and sales tax experience is desirable.
Education and Area of Focus
B.S. degree preferably accounting, engineering or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience of project controls, cost estimating/control, and project schedule
Competencies – Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Advanced Excel knowledge is required
- Working knowledge of SAP is required
