JOB TITLE:

Material Handler II for Warehouse

 

JOB LOCATION:

Chatham, Virginia

 

SHIFT SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Material Handler is responsible for efficiently receiving, storing, and distributing materials, products, and equipment within the facility.

 

  • Ensures accurate inventory management, timely movement of goods, and adherence to safety and quality standards
  • Maintains organized, compliant storage areas
  • Collaborates with team members across operations, warehouse, and production to support seamless workflow
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receiving:

  • Receive and unload non-bulk raw materials, Stock Transport Orders (STOs), and plant supplies; verify quantities, packing lists, and Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
  • Receive materials into the computer system, label packages with barcodes, and place in correct locations
  • Transfer finished products from production to storage
  • Prepare samples for Quality Control testing as required

Shipping:

  • Pull products from storage locations using pick lists
  • Prepare products for shipment, including capping, banding, labeling, and other customer-specific requirements
  • Print shipping documents and load shipments while verifying material, quantities, and carrier information
  • Repackage or relabel products as needed and complete all transactions
  • Take product samples as required by shipping instructions

General / Miscellaneous:

  • Perform equipment safety checks and follow all safety protocols using proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Participate in Emergency Response Team duties and plant Behavior-Based Safety programs
  • Report Health, Environment, Safety (HES) incidents and assist in investigations when appropriate
  • Utilize warehouse management barcode scanners for accurate tracking of materials
  • Assist with sample preparation, bottling operations, inventory cycle counts, and other plant operations as needed

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / TECHNICAL SKILLS / BEHAVORIAL SKILLS:

  • Minimum High School graduate or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / TECHNICAL SKILLS / BEHAVORIAL SKILLS:

  • One to two years’ manufacturing experience
  • Fork truck and high-rise experience
  • One to two years’ warehouse experience
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft platforms and SAP

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works in a manufacturing environment with chemical, physical, ergonomic, and electrical hazards
  • Job duties may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, powered industrial trucks, hot work or steam, working at heights, sharp tools, and slip or wet hazard; walking, talking, hearing, and seeing
  • Work is primarily performed inside the manufacturing complex but may also include exposure to outside environmental conditions
  • Worker may be exposed to dust, chemicals, odors, and other atmospheric conditions
  • Handles or works around hazardous substances following proper safety protocols
  • Must obtain high-rise certification and complete training in certain federal and international regulations
  • Work requires the use of personal protective clothing and equipment
  • Scheduled hours may include extended hours as needed
  • Noise levels in the work environment remain below OSHA permissible exposure limits
