Job Summary (include Context and Environment)

The jobholder will perform Bill of Material reviews for all Durastrength, Plastistrength, KYNAR Aquatec, and Waterborne products to insure the raw material releases to production are in accordance with actual material used.
Capital projects will be performed for upgrade modifications to plant processing equipment. Management of changes made to the production units will be made under the guidance of the MOC procedure.
Data analysis and corrective action planning to insure continuous improvement of operational and environmental performance. Jobholder will be responsible for making any necessary changes and revisions to batch procedures and will also create new procedures as new products and processes are introduced.
Jobholder will provide technical expertise to all shift operators and shift leaders. Data will be maintained on OAU, Yield, and First Pass Quality (FPQ).
Other areas of contact within the plant will include: Plant Management, Maintenance, Accounting, Technical Engineering, Process and Project Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Environmental personnel. Other areas of contact outside of the plant will include: Corporate and R&D personnel – both ACR and KYNAR Aquatec.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities with % Breakdown:

Production (50%):
• Within the PA Unit of the plant the jobholder will update and analyze OAU, downtime and productivity, FPQ, yield, project opportunities and results upon implementation, procedures to achieve manufacturing consistency, and other items related to continuous improvement and new product commercialization.
• This position will also be responsible for coordinating production schedules with the plant Logistics Leader for PA and Waterborne products in order to meet required delivery dates as well as the KYNAR Aquatec Demand Manager for the KYNAR products.
• Role will assist in entering production data in SAP when Production Resource is not available.
• Role will assist and fill in for the Operations Leader.
Technical (25%):
• This position will work within the production organization as a primary technical resource relative to the production processes. The main focus will be centered on daily operation of the various units throughout the plant, including the supporting units.
• This position will coordinate with corporate R&D (PA, WB, and KYNAR Aquatec) to scale up new products at the Mobile site including the writing of MOC’s, batch procedures, schedule controllers, and operator communication and training for the scale ups.
HES (25%):
• Responsibilities also include assuring environmental compliance of operating units. It is expected that this position will work, often in a team environment, to plan, implement, and measure production improvements based on analytical assessment of data.
• As required, initiates and participates in Root Cause Investigations

Minimum Qualifications and Education Required
|
Min Years of Experience
|
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment required (chemical batch processing experience preferred)
|
Education and area of focus
|
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering required
|
Certifications/Trainings:
|

Competencies -Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
|
• Hands on knowledge and experience with ISO, Integrated Management Systems, SPC & SQC.
• DCS and batch manager experience preferred
• Process Safety experience preferred (PHA, LOPA, Safety Instrumented Systems)
• Root Cause Investigation experience preferred (e.g., TapRoot, 5-Why, Cause Mapping)
• Experience with HES Performance & Compliance, PSM, RMP
• Six Sigma experience preferred
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
|
This position is located in a plant environment and requires person to walk about the plant on a frequent basis utilizing all required PPE.
