Position Summary:

 

This position is accountable for ensuring that all plant production units are running safely, efficiently and producing the proper amount of product as indicated by the production plan and meeting quality specifications.  As the production supervisor are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the plant.  The incumbent is also responsible for supervising operators working on shift and providing the leadership needed to maximize unit effectiveness.  As required, the individual in this position will take timely corrective action when process or personnel problems arise.  This is a salary exempt position and is a day shift position.

 

THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Utilizes effective leadership over direct reports to maximize employee productivity and contribution from each of the process areas.
  • Coordinate with production schedulers to communicate staffing and equipment needed to execute the production schedule. 
  • Supervise shipping/receiving activities for the plant.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities for the site to minimize cost and downtime.
  • Collaborate with the off-shift supervisor to develop a plan to execute the daily production schedule.
  • Participate as operations representative overseeing training of hourly personal.
  • Cover off-shifts as needed.
  • Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
  • Works with Ashland, Ohio Site Manager, Staff and members of staff to ensure the goals and objectives of the production area.
  • Ensures adherence to procedures that promote the health and welfare of all planning and distribution department.
  • Implements and/or administers all policies and procedures designed for operations department.
  • Trains and develops personnel to provide a sufficient skill base for a safe, efficient production facility.
  • Recognizes the successful efforts of employees to increase productivity, reduce costs and improve work processes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
  • Assist chemical operators as needed which includes charging and packaging mixers including wearing appropriate PPE which may include wearing a respirator.
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds safely.
  • Safely operate an industrial lift truck (sit down and stand up)

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Well versed in product manufacturing and materials
  • SAP experience is preferred
  • Must be capable of evacuating the manufacturing process areas in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
  • Must be willing to accept the role of incident command during an emergency.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit within the manufacturing process area
  • The ability to identify critical operational issues and formulate action plans with all levels of plant personnel is required.  In addition, the ability to develop and foster positive work environment within work groups and ability to resolve conflicts through problem resolution skills is essential.
  • History of strong attendance and performance.
  • Ability to coach and be coached.
  • Ability to be safe, innovative, flexible, self-starting, honest and open.
  • Experience with computers.
  • Ability to work as a member of an integrated team
