Quality Control Chemist (part-time) Job

The Quality Control Chemist is a part time position working on averge 20-30 hours / week supporting plant production of monomers and oligomers in a manufacturing environment with all the associated environmental risks.  Reporting directly to the QC Manager, this position performs analytical testing  on raw materials, in-process and finished goods.  The incumbent supports lab personnel working shift schedules and covers open shifts due to vacation or sickness with occasional 12 hour night coverage and weekend work. This position requires flexibility in availablity and scheduling.  Activities include:

 

Testing and Technical 

  • Perform all analytical testing of incoming raw materials.
  • Perform all analytical testing of in-process samples.
  • Perform all analytical testing of finished goods.
  • Perform all analytical testing related to resale and toll production that is shipped from the West Chester facility.
  • Perform all analytical testing related to Pilot Plant production.
  • Perform all analytical testing related to returned goods and customer complaints.
  • Perform all miscellaneous analytical testing as directed by West Chester’s QC Supervisor, Methods Development Chemist, or Analytical Services Manager.
  • Perform all necessary test method calibrations as defined in the West Chester Quality Control ISO procedures.
  • Perform all necessary instrument maintenance as defined in the West Chester Quality Control ISO procedures.
  • Perform all necessary instrument troubleshooting as defined in the West Chester Quality Control ISO procedures.

 

Reporting and miscellaneous

  • Utilize LIMS system to accurately report all analytical results.
  • Maintain good laboratory practies in the areas of safety and cleanliness while performing the assigned analytical duties

     

The succesful candidtate will have:

  • B.S in Chemistry or Biology with one year of work experience
  • Proven experience with analytical techniques including but not limited to NIR, HPLC, GC, FT-IR, autotitrators and standard analytical wet chemistry techniques.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of Lab Management Systems (LIMS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Total Quality Management.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork to interact with different levels of personnel from plant operator through senior management.
  • Problem solving mindset
