Part-Time Quality Chemist 1 Job

The part-time Quality Control position supports West Chester production performing analytical testing on raws, in process and finished goods. The position is responsible for accurately reporting analytical results on a timely basis to support strong plant quality performance. The part time position supports lab personnel and covers open 12 hour,shifts due to vacation or sickness and will be expected to work nights and weekends. The position is located in a lab environment within the confines of a production facility. Activities may include:
- Perform all analytical testing relating to incoming raw materials.
- Perform all analytical testing relating to West Chester in-process testing.
- Perform all analytical testing relating to finished goods testing.
- Perform all analytical testing related to resale and toll production that is shipped from the West Chester facility.
- Perform all analytical testing related to pilot plant production.
- Perform all analytical testing related to reapprovals, and returned goods.
- Perform all miscellaneous analytical testing as directed by West Chester’s QC Supervisor, Methods Development Chemist, and Analytical Services Manager.
- Perform all necessary test method calibrations as defined in the West Chester Quality Control ISO procedures.
- Perform all necessary instrument maintenance as defined in the West Chester Quality Control ISO procedures.
- Perform all necessary instrument troubleshooting as defined in the West Chester Quality Control ISO procedures

Reporting and miscellaneous (20%)
- Utilize LIMS system to accurately report all analytical results.
- Maintain good laboratory practices in the areas of safety and cleanliness while performing the assigned analytical duties
The successful candidate will have:
- B.S. in Chemistry or Biology with one year of work experience
- Proven experience with analytical techniques such as, but not limited to, NIR, HPLC, GC, FTIR, and autotitrators.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
- Knowledge of Lab Management Systems (LIMS ) a plus
- Knowledge of Total Quality Management
- Proficient computer skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to shift priorities and meet deadlines as production schedules change
- Scheduling flexibility.
