Supply Chain Manager reports directly to the Head of Supply Chain.  The position is a key member of the Americas Supply Chain Leadership Team and is accountable for end-to-end supply chain for the North America perimeter of a designated Business Unit.  The role has 5-15 direct reports and several indirect dotted line responsibilities.

Job Dimensions (scope, responsibility)

  • Responsible for driving positive results in cost, service and working capital through capable demand planning, supply planning, stock policy, and overall SIOP (Sales Inventory and Operations Planning) and SIOE (Sales Inventory and Operations Execution) processes.
  • Scope includes the end-to-end supply chain work streams from raw material supply to customer delivery.
  • Lead, train, and manage a cross-functional Supply Chain Team.  Coach, develop and provide support to team members, removing obstacles from meeting their assigned goals in delivering impactful solution to regional business unit objectives.
  • Work collaboratively to develop, and ultimately meet, team and individual goals that cascade from Regional Business Goals; Develop and Assign Measurements (both team and individual).
  • Actively contribute as a member of a regional Business Team (BT), Americas Supply Chain Leadership Team, as well as other Supply Chain Projects and Teams.

Activities (tasks, resource, outcome)

  • Practice good ergonomic and safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and Bostik specific EHS guidelines.
  • Develop and execute a supply chain strategy and roadmap in congruence with regional business unit imperatives.
  • Partner with the functional leads of the centralized Customer Service, Operations, Logistics, Sales, Product Line Management, DAMPE and R&D in delivering effective supply chain solutions to business problems.
  • Serve on a regional business unit team (BT) to insure alignment of Supply Chain priorities with business objectives.
  • Team with SAP Business Process Owners to plan and execute continuous improvement of SAP and allied applications in order to support the growing volume and complexity of a regional business unit.  Expected to manage the complexity but deliver simple, sustainable solutions.
  • Design and implement continuous enhancement of SIOP and SIOE – process, tool, analytics, and business alignment.
  • Ensure that the monthly demand meeting and supply meeting are scheduled and functional as well as lead the SIOP review meeting for a regional business unit in North America
  • Proactively engage and guide Customer Service, Sales, Product Line Management, DAMPE and Operation in their contribution to the SIOP deliverables – sales forecast, capacity assessment, raw material forecast, and inventory plan.
  • Define, measure, analyze and communicate key metrics indicating the performance of the various elements of a regional business units Sales & Operation Planning process and system.  Coach Supply Chain Demand and Supply Planners to measure and improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy of sales forecast, inventory availability, raw material forecast, logistics cost and service level across the respective business unit distribution network in North America.
  • Collaborate with DAMPE, Product Line Management, Operation and Finance to insure that the appropriate raw material pricing forecast is properly communicated, methodology for margin analysis and flex formula selection is effective, and accountabilities for data mining, analytics, decision making, and reporting are clear and optimized.
  • Improve effectiveness of finished goods stock policy to support the changing business volume while reducing slow-moving inventory and optimizing inventory turn.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and work with Operations and DAMPE in the design and execution of raw material inventory strategy and control
  • Lead or participate in the analysis, decision, and communication of Operational/Business changes that may impact the end-to-end supply chain
  • Matrix manage the effectiveness of the cross functional Supply Chain Team comprising of both direct reports and additional personnel assigned from other functions such as DAMPE, Customer Service and Manufacturing.
  • Survey emerging technologies and industry supply chain practices for potential application in Bostik.  Share knowledge, vision and strategy through training and coaching direct reports and teams.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in the analysis & optimization of end-to-end supply chain capability and performance including but not limited to forecasting, logistics, risk management, customer supply program, and vendor inventory program.
  • Plan, evaluate, improve, and document job performance and career development of direct reports.  Maximize the use of MyCareer where appropriate.  Exercise timely and effective recognition of performance and insure that gaps are clearly identified and promptly addressed.
  • Co-own the development and maintenance of standard procedures and work instructions for supply chain quality processes. This includes QSP, QWI, and relevant FCP for stock policy, demand planning, SIOP and SIOE.
  • Serve on the Americas Supply Chain Leadership Team.  Assist Head of Americas Supply Chain to shepherd long-term transformation of the end-to-end supply chain process and competency.
  • Complete Safety training in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Both 1:1 collaboration and project team environment where timely follow through with stakeholders and meeting personal commitments are important to obtain optimum result.
  • Heavy use of computer software, both PC based and enterprise system, combined with frequent interpersonal communication.  Frequent Analysis of large amounts of complex data that must be cleaned and filtered and defined.

Accountabilities (purpose)

  • Meet service level through effective and efficient capacity utilization, inventory strategy, and execution of Stocking Policy and SIOP process. 
  • Achieve world-class end-to-end supply chain performance - clear visibility, high velocity, low variability - by driving alignment with cross-functional partners such as business unit leadership, sales, marketing, finance, manufacturing, logistics, and purchasing.
  • Ensure supply continuity and cost competitiveness across the end-to-end supply chain

Qualifications / Experience Required

  • Bachelor degree in business or Supply Chain discipline. MBA degree highly preferred. Chemistry background is also helpful.
  • Certification in APICS CPIM or CSCP highly desired.  Lean Six Sigma Black Belt highly desirable.
  • A minimum of 10 years industry experience in a complex, multi-site manufacturing environment.  At least 5 years direct hands-on and management responsibility over Supply Chain Design, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, S&OP, Inventory Management and Logistics. 
  • Hands-on manufacturing and production planning experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated strength in business acumen, strategic thinking and collaborative execution.
  • Good knowledge of chemicals value chain including batch manufacturing industry capability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Demonstrated effectiveness in conflict resolution, project and people management.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and present results and ideas in a logical, concise manner.
  • Proven knowledge and application of advanced supply chain methodology and system 
  • Strong data driven problem solving and negotiation skills are important. Advanced knowledge and work experience in Excel, Word, database, web-based applications, and integrated ERP are also required.  SAP experience highly desirable.
  • Ability to efficiently manage time and workload, which includes planning, organizing, prioritizing, and follow through on assignments, projects and reports while meeting all deadlines.

  • 10% to 30% travel is expected.
