Situation in organisation 

This predominantly internal facing position will manage Advanced Packaging and Durable Goods hot melt product lines including HMPSA, HM Olefin, HM EVA, which is over 200 SKUs and $60M in sales.  S/he will be responsible for supporting volume growth and improving profitability of the selected product lines. This position reports to the Product Line Director.

Job dimensions
  • Manages the HMPSA, HM Olefin, HM EVA adhesive product lines for the Advanced Packaging and Durable Goods business units. 
  • Will work very closely with R&D, DAMPE (purchasing), Sales and Manufacturing.  Will have some global interaction.
  • Will be a key contributor to Consumer Goods and T&L MST’s.
  • Will be a key contact for the Louisville plant.
Activities
  • Identify and implement margin improvement initiatives by identifying raw material cost savings projects by collaborating closely with R&D and DAMPE.  Must a strong understanding of our global purchasing strategy.
  • Build and maintain the product line roadmap, which includes business targets, product offering and positioning, and NPD ideas consistent with overall strategic plans of the businesses. 
  • Manage and prioritize the project portfolio for all projects on the managed product lines.  Lead various projects and follow the stage gate process.
  • Manage the local product life cycle and the product review process to rationalize unprofitable products.  Develop and implement product rationalization plans.
  • Manages new product launches through the transition of development, scale up, and commercialization.
  • Communicate with sales and the market on the raw material dynamics affecting the product line.  Lead fact folder development for pricing activity.
  • Work closely with manufacturing to support long term demand planning.  Build business case for CAPEX projects.
  • Lead customer communication for changes to product offering or service level (MOQ, lead times).
  • Interact globally with other Bostik entities to identify product line expansion opportunities and lead the product transfer process.
  • Support Market Segment Teams (MSTs) by helping execute the segment strategy. 
  • Lead the demand and supply planning process for disruptive events such as product allocation scheme.
  • Practice Safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA guidelines, and Bostik-specific EHS expectations
Context and environment

The job involves working cross-functionally with all areas of the organization to manage the product line.  It also involves complex project management, leadership, creativity, and strong business acumen.  The job requires strategic thinking, long range vision, the ability to handle input from many sources, and ability to influence decisions without direct authority.

Qualifications / experience required

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field.  MBA preferred.
  • Targeted range of 7 to 10 years proven experience in Product Management, Marketing, or related field.
  • Excellent leadership, organization / planning, and communication skills.
  • Experience with stage gate and new product development processes
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.  Strong drive.  Motivated self starter.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong business acumen and analysis skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain multiple priorities.
  • Creative problem solving skills.
  • Strong desire to win.  Highly motivated, fast pace execution. 
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
