Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting & Consolidations


  • This role reports to the Sr. Accounting Manager.
  • Regular contact in the financial reporting department, support services department, tax department, operations accounting, financial analysts of each business unit, and the law department in order to obtain data needed to complete the consolidations and other projects necessary for financial reporting purposes.


Job dimensions

  • Consolidates and reports data at the Bostik Inc. level.
  • Collaborates with multi-discipline teams across functions to ensure the consistency and accuracy of reporting.
  • Supplies information on consolidated performance and cash flow generation to upper management and parent company.
  • Identifies variances and communicates information to leadership.
  • Interfaces with third party audit firms to ensure efficient dissemination of information.
  • Serves as a technical accounting resource, both within the financial reporting group and to the organization broadly.
  • Directly reports to the Senior Accounting Manager with indirect reporting line to Manager of Financial Reporting. 



  • Prepare the monthly analytical income statement consolidation reporting packages for parent company reporting. Ensure the packages are completed timely and accurately for manager review and by the required deadlines. (15%)
  • Prepare the monthly consolidated balance sheet, statement of shareholder’s equity and statement of cash flow. Ensuring that the reports are completed timely for review by the Manager, Financial Reporting and Consolidations. (15%)
  • Prepare and co-ordinate the quarterly balance sheet package for parent company reporting. Ensure all schedules are completed in a timely manner, reviewed by the Manager of Financial Reporting and Consolidations, and input into the package. Ensure all controls are resolved and the package is filed by the required deadline. (15%)
  • Prepare various reporting packages, support schedules and additional detail related to significant accounts including deferred tax, pension accounts, capital employed, budget, operating and non-operating working capital and accounts receivable aging. (15%)
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory entity financial statements on both the IFRS and US GAAP basis of accounting along with the related note disclosures. (15%)
  • Coordinate the annual audit of the Arkema 401k and Pension plans. Prepare the financial statements and interface with the third party external auditors to ensure the smooth delivery of all information and timely filing of the statements. (10%)
  • Act as a key contact for parent company personnel, responsible for answering questions on monthly and quarterly financial reports, providing analysis on significant transactions and coordinating and implementing new accounting standards and policies. (10%)
  • Facilitate new projects and process improvements as part of the team’s continuous improvement goals. Prepare ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned. (10%)


Context and environment

  • Must organize work efficiently; as these tasks must be completed in a short period of time each month/quarter in order to meet deadlines.
  • Must build and maintain relationships with external and internal personnel to ensure good communication.
  • Must keep current with information systems through training seminars and personal study, as the consolidation packages can be complex and challenging.
  • Must keep current with IFRS accounting principles and Arkema Financial Reporting rules to ensure reporting requirements are met.
  • Must work independently to produce detailed, accurate reports requiring little review comments from manager.
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.


Qualifications / experience required 

  • BS/BA in accounting or finance/business.
  • 3-5 or more years of accounting/finance work experience is required. Experience working in public accounting (preferably Big 4) and financial reporting is strongly preferred. Manufacturing experience also preferred.
  • CPA is required.
  • Technical accounting skills and experience with analysis.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Experience with the SAP system is preferred.
  • Self-directed, proactive.
  • Project-management, leadership skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to interact with Senior Management.
