Regional Senior Health and Safety Specialist – NE and W Region


Situation in organization 

  • This position reports to the Bostik Health and Safety Director – AMAS Region, and will interact with other Corporate HES personnel, lead multidisciplinary team, and interface with plant personnel to ensure industrial occupational health and safety program and policy compliance.
  • This position is geographically based at Bostik’s Corporate Offices in Wauwatosa, WI


Job dimensions

  • Provide consultation and support to the sites regarding Arkema Occupational Safety Programs, processes, and legal/internal requirements for plants within Arkema Inc. and its subsidiaries in North America.
  • Serve as the Corporate Champion for Incident Investigation providing expertise and facilitating training and implementation at Arkema Americas sites.
  • Drive Organizational change by actively participating on, and in some cases leading, regional and global teams for Arkema Health and Safety.
  • Provide leadership, support and guidance for the Arkema Contractor Safety Program in the Americas.



  • Provide oversight, consultation, training and support regarding occupational health and safety programs, processes, action plans, best practices, and regulatory/internal requirements across the Americas. 20%
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and training to support an effective corporate incident investigation program.   Lead site incident investigations. Provide peer review and evaluation of high risk incident investigations. 20%
  • Provide field safety support to assigned sites. 40%
  • Conduct occupational risk assessments (i.e. Task Hazard Assessments, Ergonomic Assessments, etc.) as needed to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses and to improve workplace conditions and practices. 10%
  • Participate as an auditor in AIMs, PSM, and other general occupational safety audits. Conduct review, verification, and/or provide corrective action guidance/support of site action plans associated with audit findings and/or incidents. 10%


Context and environment

  • The Regional Health and Safety Specialist will interact with other corporate HES personnel, lead multidisciplinary teams, and interface with plant personnel to ensure Occupational Safety program and policy compliance.
  • Business travel (with potential to include Canada, Mexico, and South America) is estimated to be about 50-60% of the time.
  • Participate in HES activities provided by Bostik/Arkema (e.g., CARE, SafeStart, etc)
  • Support and promote the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents



  • Educate, facilitate, and support the organization in implementation of a Continuous Improvement Culture that has a never ending focus on improving business results
  • Actively identify, communicate and implement improvement initiatives in EHS


Qualifications / experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational or industrial safety, engineering, science or other related technical field is required
  • At least 5+ years commensurate work experience in chemical/manufacturing industry
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is a plus
  • Knowledge of chemical manufacturing operations and relevant occupational safety and health federal and state regulations
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to influence change at all levels
  • Strong project leadership skills and history of successful completion
  • Demonstrated computer skills associated with databases, web-based tools, spreadsheets, etc…
  • Ability to work independently and accomplish company goals & targets
