Innovation Process Specialist

 

Situation in organization 

  • Reporting to Corporate R&D Director; no direct reports are currently required but review of resource needs will periodically occur to adequately support this management role.
  • Role requires direct interaction and influence with R&D leadership, innovation project teams, and BU leadership

Activities

  • Lead continuous improvement of Stage-gate and Portfolio Management in Bostik Inc. by:
  • Leading continued utilization of stage-gate and portfolio management software in the Americas region
  • Review and improve procedures and templates used for stage-gate and portfolio management
  • Identify and drive improvement of innovation processes (new and existing) 
  • Coordinate with quality management functions in Bostik Inc. by:
  • Maintaining Design and Development procedures (e.g., QSP-PD 10)
  • Establish and use ISO audit skills to improve quality management processes, with a primary focus on processes associated with design and development 
  • Assure data quality and overall design integrity of stage-gate and portfolio management in Bostik Inc. through:
  • Ongoing training of project leaders, gate-keepers, and team members
  • Facilitate Gate Reviews and Portfolio Reviews to assure proper meeting preparedness, objectives and outcomes are met
  • Generating / measuring KPI’s associated with stage-gate and portfolio management 
  • Ensure globalization of ELN (electronic lab notebook) across Bostik globally
  • Drive projects to expand the ELN to additional labs across Bostik.

 

Context and environment

  • The context of this role is that it contributes to measurable improvements in business performance through (i) use of Pegasus Stage-Gate and Portfolio Management tools and (ii) integration into Bostik’s Quality Management System (ISO 9001). The Environment of this role requires the necessary skills, executive support, and process subject knowledge to influence, implement and drive change to functions and associates, without having direct authority.

  

Accountabilities

  • Successful delivery of a disciplined innovation process requires to provide:
  • Accurate and timely feedback to leadership on progress of IPM such as gate meetings, project plans, complete deliverables documents
  • Provide effective training on Stage-Gate and Portfolio Management methods
  • Assure integration of the Stage-Gate process into Bostik’s Quality Management System
  • Contribute to deployment and to improvements in processes and information management systems associated with Stage-Gate and Portfolio Management

 

Qualifications / experience required

  • Bachelors degree in technical related field (chemistry or engineering preferred) and/or at least 5 years successful track record in new product development 
  • Ability and proven track record to lead multiple large and complex projects
  • Process driven, analytical, organized, detail oriented, drive for success and accountability/commitment
  • Excellent written & verbal skills; effectively able to present & train both groups and individuals throughout all levels and functions of the organization
  • Ability to influence and lead without direct authority
  • Ability to lead and implement change
