Commercial Finance Manager

 

Reports to Director of Finance

 

Job Summary
The Commercial Finance Manager is a strategic partner to Category Managers and cross-functional teams, driving financial performance through margin improvement, pricing analysis, and commercial planning. This role is responsible for managing the trade accrual process, supporting category strategy execution, and providing financial insights that influence decision-making across the Consumer & Construction business unit. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities with business acumen and collaborative leadership.

 

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Category Partnership & Margin Improvement (30%)

- Collaborate closely with Category Managers to analyze product mix, pricing strategies, and SKU performance

- Identify margin improvement opportunities through cost analysis, pricing optimization, and promotional ROI

- Support category strategy execution with financial modeling and scenario planning

 

Accrual Management & Financial Controls (20%)

- Own the trade accrual process, ensuring accurate forecasting, tracking, and reconciliation

- Partner with Sales and Marketing to validate spend and ensure alignment with budget

- Monitor accrual balances and provide monthly reporting with variance analysis

 

Commercial Planning & Forecasting (20%)

- Lead financial planning processes for commercial functions including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning

- Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives, product launches, and market expansion

- Provide insights on revenue, volume, and profitability trends

 

Pricing & Promotional Analysis (15%)

- Evaluate pricing strategies and promotional investments in collaboration with Category and Sales teams

- Conduct profitability analysis at customer, product, and segment levels

- Recommend pricing adjustments based on market dynamics and performance metrics

 

Reporting & Business Insights (15%)

- Deliver monthly performance dashboards and executive summaries

- Provide actionable insights to senior leadership on risks, opportunities, and business drivers

- Support ad hoc analysis and strategic projects across the business unit

 

 

Minimum Qualifications and Education Required

5+ years of experience in commercial finance, FP&A or business analysis

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economic, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)

Strong proficiency in Excel, financial modeling, and ERP/reporting systems (e.e. SAP, Power BI)

Experience partnering with commercial teams, especially Category or Product Managers

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Strategic thinking and problem-solving

Commercial acumen and margin sensitivity

Attention to detail and analytical rigor

Collaboration and cross-functional influence

Adaptability in a dynamic, matrixed environment

 

 

HES Requirement

Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements

Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)

Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
