Job Summary:

 

The Strategic Sourcing Manager reports to the Regional Vice President of Raw Materials, Energy & Packaging. This position is responsible for total spend in energy, ensuring the responsible and sustainable use related to energy commodities and services, catalysts, and industrial gases at Bostik/Arkema facilities in North America. This role is responsible for formulating and executing purchasing strategies to manage risk, availability, and quality of energy & materials at the lowest total cost of ownership. The Strategic Sourcing Manager routinely works with regional and global business leaders, supply chain management, finance, manufacturing, engineering, R&D, and others to ensure alignment of projects/activities with Purchasing goals and objectives.

 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Energy Sourcing (50%)

  • Manages energy portfolio by developing a structured risk mitigation strategy, including hedging activities, and providing primary energy complex inputs into financial forecasts.

  • Conducts comprehensive market analysis and supplier screening, assessing strategic direction, financial due diligence, market position, industry power, capabilities & capacity, and risk assessment to develop portfolio strategies with key business partners.

  • Negotiates and implements commercial agreements and contracts tailored to specific supply situations, ensuring they align with a strategy that guarantees business continuity through these agreements.

  • Drives an environment that leads Sourcing best practices, policies, quality, safety and compliance.

  • Supports members of the Global Energy & Commodity team to analyze complex supplier proposals, using decision-making tools and models that incorporate financial and non-financial criteria, to facilitate award recommendations.

  • Creates and maintains pricing models and predictive models for energy, feedstock, and other key cost drivers for all key materials.

  • Participates in the development of new products through early involvement with the BU, Engineering and R&D on alternative identification and supply agreement negotiations.

  • Validates contracts according to their DOA (Delegations of Authority).

 

Catalyst Sourcing (10%)

  • Supports Arkema sites with various needs related to catalyst supply.

  • Acts as an advisor on sourcing and pricing strategies for sites requiring catalysts.

 

Sourcing for Industrial Gas (10%)

  • Supports Arkema sites with various needs for Industrial Gas supply.

  • Acts as the primary purchasing liaison for the Hydrogen Peroxide business, ensuring effective communication and coordination of material needs. Note that material strategies may be managed by other sourcing managers.

 

Tactical Purchasing (30%)

  • Manages monthly and quarterly price negotiations and hedging activities to manage costs and risks, ensuring alignment with the global strategy.

  • Resolves delivery and quality issues with suppliers.

  • Provides guidance and coaching to local buyers in supplier management.

  • Conducts monthly analytics on Purchase Price Variance and estimates the annual spend for each commodity within their responsibility, leveraging these analyses in business planning, strategies and negotiation.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Education Required:

  • 8 years' experience, minimum of 5 years’ global or multi-regional experience in Procurement, Marketing, Sales, and/or Technical Development.

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in chemical engineering, finance, or relevant technical equivalent.

  • Some experience in financial KPI and purchasing impact on P/L.

  • Strong financial and business acumen, spend segmentation analysis.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor communication to level of audience, ability to present results clearly and concisely.

  • Strong negotiator.

  • Strategic thinker.

  • Proven ability to innovate and improve upon existing business practices.

  • Proven leadership skills with ability to manage multiple stakeholders and multi-cultural skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment

  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.

  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema inc. (e.g, Behavorial Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)

  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident, or injury incidents.
