JOB SUMMARY

 

Arkema Inc. is seeking a Sr. Buyer to manage the purchasing of distribution and packaging raw materials. This role is critical to ensuring timely procurement, accurate order processing, and effective supplier communication. The Sr. Buyer will handle planning, purchasing, negotiating, and expediting assigned commodity items, while supporting Strategic Sourcing Managers on projects that drive efficiency and cost optimization. The position may also manage a product portfolio and perform analyses to balance competing supply options.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Travel is minimal.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Issue Resolution

  • Act as the primary liaison between planners and suppliers to resolve delivery conflicts quickly and effectively.
  • Monitor and log supplier complaints, ensuring timely communication and resolution to maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and implementing preventive measures.

 

Manage Purchase Orders

  • Oversee the end-to-end purchase order process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and strategies.
  • Review requisitions for completeness, clarify details with stakeholders, and process orders promptly.
  • Reconcile invoices and update delivery schedules to maintain seamless operations and minimize disruptions.

 

Support Strategic Sourcing Managers

  • Partner with Strategic Sourcing Managers to implement sourcing strategies and support key initiatives.
  • Contribute to S&OP meetings, inventory management, and risk mitigation projects.
  • Prepare detailed reports, evaluate bids, and assist in supplier negotiations to optimize cost and performance.

 

Special Projects & Coaching

  • Lead process improvement projects that enhance efficiency and reduce operational gaps.
  • Mentor team members, share best practices, and foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and recommend solutions that align with organizational goals.

 

 

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.

 

Experience: Minimum 4 years in Procurement/Sourcing/Supply Chain (or 7 years for non-degreed individuals).

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficiency in SAP, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), and query tools.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Negotiation experience and supplier relationship management
