Logistics and Quality Supervisor

 

Situation in organization

Logistics and Quality Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager

 

Job dimensions

  • Creation and maintenance of production schedules in SAP for the production lines
  • Purchasing (in conjunction with Corporate Supply Chain) necessary raw materials and packaging to support planned production
  • Representation of the plant with local suppliers and national account suppliers 
  • Monitor demand and inventory levels of critical raw materials to identify potential issues prior to production
  • Responsible for development of successor
  • Manage all inventory levels and accuracy
  • Manage issues dealing with availability issues (raw material and carrier)
  • Maintaining ISO compliance at a facility
  • NCMR / CEI process
  • Customer Audits
  • Work with other Quality Managers and Corporate Quality to drive improvement and standardization on all processes mentioned above.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Quality (internal – external).

 

Activities 

Logistics

  • Ensure proper housekeeping and organization of the warehouses. Practice Safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA guidelines, and Bostik specific EHS expectations
  • Work closely with Production Supervisor to ensure proper inventory levels to support order fulfillment and financial objectives.
  • Interact with personnel outside the Petersburg Plant in customer service, sales, inventory management, logistics and financial operations to meet objectives.
  • Hire, train and develop associates to support operational objectives
  • Measure and continuously improve assigned key performance indicators (KPI’s).
  • Communicate forecasts to suppliers in adequation with Purchasing strategy, production planning and inventory management
  • Place Purchasing orders (grade / quantity / delivery date / special instructions) - Maintain PO dates in ERP
  • Check delivery and price for purchased materials. Update PO if necessary
  • Coordinate transportation needs on inbound freight as necessary
  • Supervise inventory management (raw materials, packaging)
  • Monitor and document supplier quality and service performance and participate to annual Supplier Assessment data collection
  • Ensure Planning and Scheduling plant activities are done.
  •  Ensure capacity is not exceeded and work centers do not run “dry”
  • Monitor inventory levels of critical raw materials and packaging
  • Release planned purchase orders for required raw materials and packaging and communicate to suppliers
  • Monitor all open purchase orders and maintain expected receipt dates in SAP
  • Establish and maintain consistent communication channels to ensure vendor performance and address plant specific concerns. Report on supplier performance to Corporate Supply Chain management and escalate issues as needed for resolution
  • Organize and define strategy to perform Cycle Count Program and inventory management and report in a weekly and monthly basis.

 

Quality

  • Responsible for the Quality on site and with external customers.
  • Lead a Safety culture by example and ensure safety rules are understood and adhered to in the lab ISO 9001.
  • Serve as Site Management Representative and oversee Management System Documentation for Site
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated on time and records properly documented
  • Serve as Customer Quality contract for audits, CI initiatives, etc.
  • Drive for excellence in Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) responses
  • Support Customers requests as needed from QA perspective (i.e. Certificate of Analysis (C of A), Issues, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) Requests, Customer Complains Forms, etc.). Own Processes for Customers specific needs (QAKE, GMP,PPAP PFMEA etc.)..
  • Serve on the plant Leadership Team as the plant’s overall quality leader.
  • Identify monitor, team KPI’s associated with customers quality in order to drive improvement
  • Help lead, develop, and sustain a Continuous Improvement (CI) Environment.

 

Context and environment

  • Fast paced, high pressure environment involved in a wide variety of functions and activities.
  • The job involves daily computer work that is time critical, without compromise to data integrity
  • Heavy use of computer software, both PC based and enterprise system, combined with frequent interpersonal communication.
  • Working within a team environment to ensure successful output and continuous performance improvement
  • Portion of time spent on production floor. +20%
  • Key drivers in the role are customer service, process improvement and cost reduction.

 

Accountabilities

  • The purpose of the role is to lead and manage the site logistics team to meet service level expectations of the customer and manage the flow of inventory to support production and shipping needs.
  • Data Accuracy / verification to ensure schedules are released in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain production schedules that minimize production downtime due to lack of materials
  • Effective Communication when materials are not available.
  • Effective Communication and Management of Process (NCMR, CEI, Class 1 and 3).
  • Accurate and on time testing to release dates.
  • Improvements of KPI’s measured by Site Quality Index and demonstrate in NCMR reduction to nonsalable, CEI reduction inflow, time to close NCMR / CEI.

 

Qualifications / experience required

  • BS in a related field or AS degree and 2-3 years of practical experience, or 3-5 years experience and CPIM certified
  • Strong Experience using SAP as a buyer or planner required
  • Ability to self-direct work and processes
  • Demonstrate strong attention to details and analytical skills
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written
  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in warehousing, procurement or inventory control.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Applications. Experience in SAP is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience in Quality leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO9001 + requirements.
