Mission Details

  • To ensure all the QA laboratory activities is in compliance with the company’s HSEQ procedure and meeting company strategies and objectives.
  • Responsible for the control of the activities of the QA laboratory in an efficient and cost effective manner.
  • Responsible for developing effective laboratory management systems that include workload prioritizing, overtime allocation, good housekeeping, laboratory inventory control, analytical equipment maintenance, minimizing laboratory waste generation and disposal.
  • Set up and maintain the highest standard of QA laboratory quality system such as to ensure raw materials and finished goods meet specification, technical competence of QA laboratory staff and analytical results.

Finished product and raw material: 

  • Work with other sections/departments on problem troubleshooting, customer complaints and aged stock (raw material and finished product) such as to ensure good product quality, prevention of off-specification and aged stock occurrence.
  • Carry out laboratory scale blending, issue work-off recommendation and seek the approval from management and MD for write-off if not workable for the following purposes:
    • Off-specification product (send for application test if needed)
    • Aged products and raw material
    • Product returned from customer
    • Check and issue the compatibility table of all new products for production
  • Update & maintain the Daily Quality Records and Raw Material Summary
  • Establish new specification, new testing method, set shelf life and work with purchasing on evaluation of for  new product and new raw material 
  • Collect molecular weight data of all new products and monomer residue of new acrylic resin.
  • Monitoring the polymer content and inhibitor content of all monomers in storage tanks.

Equipment, inventory and expenses:

  • Maintain and carry out periodic calibration of lab equipment for four laboratories.
  • Fully responsible for inventory and purchasing of the QA laboratory operation necessities.
  • Ensure the expenses and capital expenditures are within budget.

ISO, HSEQ and AIMS:

  • Maintaining and updating QA laboratory operation procedures in conjunction with the head in-charge of HSE & Compliance Manager according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standard.
  • Regularly perform Risk Assessment of QC operations and update CHRA list in conjunction with the head in-charge of HSE & Compliance Manager 
  • Take reasonable care for health and safety of himself and of other persons, to cooperate with superior, to wear or use personal protective equipment provided as appropriate and to comply health and safety instruction as stipulated under Section 24 OSHA 1994 and undertake the following loss control responsibilities.

Assist and support R&D, technical service and maintenance:

  • Assist technical service on testing normal property of competitor’s sample. 
  • Assist R&D and technical service on checking molecular weight of lab cook samples and competitor’s sample  to establish new products or matching competitors’ product.
  • Assist R&D and technical service on calibrate certain common equipment. 
  • Assist maintenance to do the samples testing from waste water treatment plant.

Required Profile

  • Degree in Chemistry or other Science disciplines from a recognized Institution.
  • Preferably with minimum of 3 years of working experience.
  • Technical related work experience in a chemical or manufacturing plant laboratory.
  • Good knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system.
  • Conversant in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office Applications; i.e. Outlook, Excel, Words, Powerpoint, etc).
  • Mature with good interpersonal skill and able to work independently.
  • No color blindness issue.
