Job Demension

•TS engineer reports to the R&D Manager – Durable Goods
•TS engineer works with TS and R&D team members and laboratory technicians.
•Technology Platforms: several technologies assigned to the engineer to handle technical service. It can include for example, but not limited to: Thermal interface Materials, Structural adhesives (MMA, 2KPU), hot melts, water-based, solvent-based, HMPUR, SMP, Cyanoacrylate, or any other technology assigned.
•Target market segments: All DG market segments; Mobility, Assembly, Building Materials.
•This is local position with regional and global impact.

ACTIVITIES

1. Technical Support Activities
•Provide technical advice to customers on assigned technologies.
•Visit customers and distributors for key projects and technical discussions.
•Explain Bostik Durable Goods technologies and applications.
•Understand customer application requirements and technical challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
•Prepare detailed customer visit reports for internal sharing and follow-up.
•Generate and/or collect technical data requested by customers.
•Identify applicable testing standards, test requests, and customer requirements.
•Liaise with global TS teams and technical experts to gather existing data and knowledge.
•Prepare test plans including testing conditions, specimen preparation, and timelines.
•Provide clear testing instructions to laboratory technicians.
•Perform laboratory testing independently when required, in compliance with safety procedures.
•Prepare detailed technical reports based on test results and explain them to customers.
•Request technical documents and samples from global Bostik teams and distribute samples to customers.
•Record all Technical Service activities (sampling, testing, reporting) in internal Bostik databases.
•Contribute to defining specifications for new product development when required.

2. Sales Support Activities
•Conduct competitive product and technology comparisons to support product positioning.
•Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers.
•Participate in exhibitions and trade shows in Japan.
•Support and attend customer trials on-site, documenting trial conditions and resolving issues.

3. Training Activities
•Participate in internal Bostik technical training programs.
•Deliver technical training to internal sales and technical teams.
•Provide technical training to customers to improve product knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
•Learn and understand customer application processes, dispensing systems, and manufacturing lines.

4. Customer Complaint Handling Activities
•Support investigation and resolution of customer complaints in collaboration with Sales, R&D, and QA teams.

5. HSE Activities
•Follow company HSEQ policies and procedures.
•Report HSEQ concerns in a timely manner and work with the team to implement corrective actions.

• Deliver reliable and well-documented test data and technical reports.

met by existing solutions.
• Ensure effective handling and resolution of customer complaints.
• Comply with all HSEQ requirements and promote a strong safety and quality culture.
• Collaborate effectively with regional and global teams to share knowledge and best practices.

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

• The position is based in Bostik-Nitta, Osaka prefecture, Yao-Shi, Advanced Innovation Center (AIC), within the Durable Goods Business Unit.
• The position requires some level of domestic travel and occasionally international travel.
• Business trip intensity: 10 to 50% depending on business needs.
• This engineer is in charge of Japanese customers mainly. Close customer contact is needed to support sales team on business growth, through customer visits, product trial, training etc.
• When not at customers, the engineer will spend the major part of its time in laboratories, to test existing products based on customers requirements.
• Regular exchanges (mail, teams) in English are required with Bostik foreign teams and experts, in Europe, China and United-States mostly, requiring a good command of English.
• As we are part of a global company, some web-meeting are expected early in the morning or late at night from time to time. This is a necessary requirement for smooth operation and on-time delivery of projects.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

MUST
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer science, mechanical engineering or industrial
engineering related field.
- Learn quickly new technologies and applications.
- Strong appetite to understand how products surrounding us are manufactured, and how we could make it
in a more cost effective way, more sustainable way, or improve final properties.
- Curiosity and ability to find new ideas.
- Fluent Japanese, verbal and written skills.
- English email written and reading skills, mainly. Confident to interact orally internally in English even in
basic sentences.
- Good presentation skills, confident in discussing with customers and asking questions.
- Good analytical skills to interpret results
- Ability to keep deadlines.
- Team player. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Customer oriented.
WANT
