SUMMARY:

General purpose: Operate and maintain a tanker truck to haul liquid chemical products (some hazardous) to local and long-distance customers. Class A CDL with Tanker and HAZMAT endorsement.  

ACTIVITIES:

  • Operate and maintain a tanker truck to haul liquid chemical products (some hazardous) to local and long-distance customers. Class A CDL with Tanker and HAZMAT endorsement. 
  • Operates pumping equipment to load and unload chemical products from tanker unit. 
  • Must maintain legally required D.O.T. documentation and travel logs. 
  • Performs equipment inspections to maintain proper equipment performance and safety. 
  • Follows all department procedures and all safety requirements 
  • Reports any safety incidents on the correct form, within the same shift of the occurrence. These include injuries, near misses, property damage and unsafe conditions 
  • Promptly reports any environmental incidents, including spills (within or outside containment), air emissions, and ground or water contamination. 
  • Performs equipment inspections on tractor and tanker trailer for proper performance and safety. This will include greasing of fittings, trailer brake adjustments and normal services such as adding oil, fuel, radiator fluid, and proper tire inflation. 
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicle, including cleanup of product spills. This includes exterior spills on the tanker as well as interior tractor cleanliness. 
  • Maintains excellent communication with plant location and customers. Communication must be made with place of origin once delivery of materials is complete. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Class A CDL with Tanker and HAZMAT endorsement
  • Must have a violation-free driving record
  • A minimum of two-years’ tanker driving experience 
  • Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC port card
  • Must have or be able to obtain a MSHA card
