Sr. Project Engineer

 

Job Dimensions for Senior Project Engineer:

  • Capital project engineering for all Durable Goods /Advanced Packaging sites, buildings and process equipment
  • Design, construct and install capital projects according to all applicable internal and external codes, construction standards, safety standards and procedures
  • Typical project work load is 1 to 5 capital projects up to $10 million or more
  • Provide engineering support for Management of Change of buildings, sites and process equipment
  • Provide engineering support as part of the capital management process, including stage gate requirements
  • Define and write equipment definitions for RFQ and PO requirements as part of purchasing process
  • Issue PO's according to purchase procedure
  • Manage the equipment and building installation as part of the capital management process
  • Manage and report capital project spending budget to forecast
  • Manage and report project work time and travel expenses budget to forecast
  • Senior Project Engineer will peer review other projects to relevant engineering and project process standards
  • Provide process engineering support for projects at sites with no process engineering or resources available
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) program

 

Activities for Senior Project Engineer:

  • Practice safe work habits in accordance with OSHA, EPA and Bostik EHS guidelines and expectations
  • Works with plant and BU project teams to support initiatives with capital project engineering
  • Assist manufacturing plants in throughput enhancements and efficiency improvements
  • Provide cost estimates for capital project planning process
  • Provide trouble-shooting support for production issues
  • Coordinate with plant maintenance on equipment best-practice maintenance and repairs
  • Take part in team based capital projects with commercial team, plant operations, process engineering, finance, quality, Arkema engineering, procurement, supply management and EHS functions.
  • Write cost justifications for Authorization of Expenditures
  • Take part in drafting and updating internal equipment and construction standards.
  • Take part in PHA's as necessary
  • Conduct project commissioning, which includes start-up and validation activities
  • Sound process engineering understanding and ability to fill in as process engineer if needed - provide support to smaller sites without dedicated process engineering resource or larger sites depending on resource availability.
  • Work directly with external contractors to complete responsibilities as required

 

Context and Environment for Senior Project Engineer:

  • The job involves travelling to potentially all the Bostik Us and Mexican facilities and various equipment vendors to design, construct and install capital equipment as part of a multidisciplined project team. Taking part in the evaluation and selection of equipment vendors and general contractors for all project disciplines and plants.

 

Accountabilities for Senior Project Engineer:

  • The project engineer is held accountable for the design, construction and installation of the capital project in a way that meets all applicable codes, equipment and building standards as well as safety and environmental compliance.
  • All capital projects will be completed in a way that does not compromise the safety of Bostik employees, people of our communities or environments in and around the facilities.

 

Qualifications / Experience Required for Senior Project Engineer:

  • B.S. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Familiarity with Process Safety Management
  • Understand the application of general chemical plant mfg codes and standards such as OSHA, NFPA, NEC, API, ASME, etc
  • Strong computer skills, MS Office, AutoCAD, understanding of PLC ladder logic
  • Team focused mindset
  • A senior project engineer will have > 7 years of project engineering experience in chemical manufacturing plant environment managing capital projects > $500K or more
  • Limited travel up to 25%, however dependent on project scope and the maturity of the project.
