Reports directly to the Polyurethane Production Supervisor


Job dimensions

  • Responsible in Leading the 3rd shift Polyurethane Department.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of manufacturing equipment to produce high performance chemical adhesives.
  • Perform in-process laboratory testing to satisfy intermediate and finished product requirements.




  • The following responsibilities are in addition to those of a Production Operator:
  • Responsible for schedule completion.
  • Responsible to conduct Shift Change meetings. (The Lead from the departing shift is to conduct the meeting.)
  • Responsible to delegate tasks as necessary for administrative and manufacturing tasks to shift team (typically 1-4 additional operators)
  • Responsible for the continuity on their shifts and between shifts.
  • A3's are to be conducted by the Lead on shift if the issue that led to the A3 occurred on their shift.
  • Responsible to ensure all Plant Safety Guidelines are being followed on their shifts.
  • Responsible for incident reporting and communications of response.
  • Responsible in reporting communications. This includes: Extended Down Time, Shift Change report, etc.
  • Develop a Back Up, on your shift, that can follow the same processes.
  • Ensure Batch Sheets are processed in SAP that are completed on your shift.
  • Updates JHA's, PPE's and Work Instructions, as necessary, to reflect accurate and common practices among all operators in the department.


Context and environment

  • A fast paced, high pressure environment where you are involved in a wide variety of functions and activities.
  • One will participate in activities within the Plant, within one’s department as well as cross functional.
  • Use of computer software, both PC based and enterprise system, combined with frequent interpersonal communication.



  • Compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of the manufacturing operation and compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for day-to-day completion of assigned tasks for their shift.
  • Production activities to meet Plant and business objectives.



Qualifications / experience required

  • High school diploma or higher education preferred.
  • Typically 3+ years experience in chemical manufacturing operations
  • Experienced in working within a team environment, with team leadership experience preferred.
  • Committed to concepts of Operator driven in-plant lab testing, Autonomous & Preventive maintenance, Problem Solving on the Shop Floor, 5S, etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Adaptable to change and can lead change.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
