Title: Production Planner/Scheduler

 

Situation in organization

This position reports to the Operations Manager. No direct reports.

Job dimensions

The planner is responsible to balance customer demand requirements with production capacity and finished goods stock levels. Utilizing forecasting tools and MRP, the position is responsible for providing production schedules and an adequate supply of raw materials and packaging.  The planner/scheduler also produces shipping documents for some of the department workload.

 

Key Activities and responsibilities

Planning Responsibilities (50%)

  • Manage daily/weekly production planning by grade through coordination with Customer Service and Plant Operations to meet customer orders and through coordination with Supply Chain at King of Prussia for longer term planning (month+). Utilize MRP to manage production planning activities. Create production orders and issue schedule regularly.
  • Plan raw material requirements using MRP or other electronic systems as appropriate.
  • Order raw materials, packaging, and supplies for operations and logistics. Monitor inventory levels and proactively order materials as needed.  Work with corporate purchasing to make continuous improvement in supplies inventory.
  • Become site resource for inventory management, completing inventory counts in both the storeroom and operations.

Scheduling Responsibilities (50%)

  • Plan & schedule packaged goods shipments.  Create production orders in SAP for packaged product.
  • Produce all shipping documentation for packaged finished product including COA’s, SAP documents, and Bill of Lading.
  • Complete, Monitor and Correct SAP workflows such as confirmations and transfers. Accountable for ensuring inventory accuracy of crude and finished goods. 
  • Check / Review API product production records.
  • Review, on a daily basis, any missed or incomplete shipments and identify root cause.  Issue regular summary reports to the appropriate groups in the organization.
  • Willingness to support and contribute to continuous improvement activities
  • Provide vacation & sick relief for site shipping duties.
  • Read company communications weekly, i.e. production advisories, emails, etc.
  • Complete scheduled periodic training on time and as required.

 

Context and environment

  • This position works in an office environment.
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

 

Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience

  • HS diploma/GED with minimum 5-7 years’ experience in manufacturing operations or manufacturing logistics (required)
  • Knowledge of materials management, supplier quality and performance requirements, understanding of the production processes and S&OP process
  • APICS certification (preferred)
  • Understanding of DOT and other required transportation regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and SAP

  • Must be able to multi-task and efficiently operate in a demanding work environment.
