SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION

This position reports to Oxygenates and Derivatives North America Manufacturing Director (direct report) with a strong functional reporting to Business Unit Process Garant (CPT).  The position will manage a Process Technology engineer based at Memphis, and will have an active BU leadership role.

 

JOB DIMENSIONS

This position is accountable for process technology in Hydrogen Peroxide. 

  • Process & Production: Responsible for ensuring optimal production and process enhancements of Hydrogen Peroxide division operations in the Americas (Memphis/ Becancour and Blooming Prairie).
  • People: Interacts with manufacturing sites listed above to manage activities and efforts of the process engineering function. Interacts with the Hydrogen Peroxide business team, R&D team and manufacturing management and plant process engineers.  Liaison for exchange of technical information with European Hydrogen Peroxide technical personnel including Business Unit Process Garant.
  • Financial: Responsible for Hydrogen Peroxide process technology budget.  Improves manufacturing cost improvement in the Americas.
     
    KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Process Development and Technical Support (30%)
  • Manage the Hydrogen Peroxide process technology portfolio.
  • Provide direct technical manufacturing support to plant operations.
  • Identify, evaluate and coordinate opportunities for process improvement.
  • Coordinate the business unit variable cost and energy improvement programs.
  • Develop new process technology, study process alternatives and develop economic analysis.
  • Technical oversight of engineering work performed by process engineers at the plants and KOP technical center.supporting Hydrogen Peroxide activities.
  • Performs competitor and technology benchmarking studies & technical evaluation of business opportunities.
  • Lead teams and be a gatekeeper for smaller projects evaluated using stage gate process.
     
    Safety and Environmental (15%)
  • Improve process safety at the sites; create and lead initiatives, participate in incident investigations and incident response team, management of change reviews, process hazard analyses and all other process safety activities.
  • Support permit applications, episodic release estimates, etc.
     
    Large Capital Projects Leadership  (50%%)
  • Lead early development of large Hydrogen Peroxide Business unit capital projects.

    Personnel Management/ Professional Development (15%)
    Ensure process engineers develop / enhance both technical and interpersonal skills. Perform annual evaluations & performance development planning for direct Process Technology Engineers report.
     
    CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to travel apx. 30-40 % of the time within North America and Europe)
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
     
    EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum BS degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of plant and/or process engineering experience
  • Chemical industry experience, including project management, production and process
  • Ability to lead and develop process technology, manage technical portfolios, optimize resources and prioritize critical activities
     
    DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIES
  • Proven ability to correct and take timely decisions
  • Proven ability to understand and communicate complex analytical information.
  • Capable of managing technical professionals
