Title: Logistics Production Supervisor
Reports directly to the Operations Manager. Direct reports include Logistics Coordinator, Logistics Clerk and six (6) hourly Operators/Material Handlers. Supervises staff in a 4/10 overlapping schedule and 4/12 hour rotating shifts. Will provide backup responsibilities for operations production supervisor and 19 production operators.

Key Activities and responsibilities
LOGISTICS and OPERATIONS (70%):
- Ensures compliance with all DOT and ICC regulations for shipping/receiving hazardous materials.
- Manages all Tank Wagon, Packaged Goods and sample shipments with BU and related SAP functions.
- Ensures maintenance of storage areas and optimizes usage for maximum efficiency.
- Ensures stock rotation of finished goods.
- Oversees cycle counts of raw materials, packaging and finished goods; investigates inventory discrepancies.
- Is the Point of Contact for railroad operations to site landlord and switching contractors to ensure efficient safe movement of railcars and to ensure site contract requirements are met
- Interfaces with regulatory agencies (Federal Railroad Administration, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation) on a regular basis and provides responses and action plans to address transportation/shipping issues, incidents, and security issues as they occur.
- Serves as first contact for Reacts calls; performs accident/incident investigations; subject matter expert for transportation issues, prepares action plans for mitigation of incidents as necessary; coordinates action plan to successful completion. Enters information into IMPACT. May travel to assist with on-site incident response for transportation safety incidents.
- Implements risk reduction measures as needed on PSM covered processes, per the PHA.
- Coordinates transportation regulatory audits with outside agencies.
- Ensures all customer special requirements are documented and met for every shipment.
- Coordinates all Railcar shipments with BU (including daily track list reporting) and related SAP functions.
- Interfaces daily with customer service to provide inventory, shipping and scheduling information.
- Creates POs and/or MROs for Logistics supplies for Tank Farm and Warehouse.
- Manages maintenance planning and scheduling of all Tank Wagons and Railcars assigned to Memphis Plant.
- Ensures packaging and priority lists are prepared for rush & short lead-time orders.
- Complete scheduled periodic training on time and as required.
SUPERVISION (30%):
- Supervises Logistics personnel in the execution of warehouse/logistics duties & responsibilities; provides guidance and direction and motivates workforce for high productivity.
- Supports and back up operations department with Production Supervisor.
- Manages efficient use of manpower and scheduling of OT to minimize costs while meeting delivery dates of customers.
- Ensures employees remain up to date on all SuccessFactors training and attend required Safety meetings.
- Provides DOT and IMDG mandatory training for all personnel identified as hazmat employees; as well as functional Specific training related to all shipping containers.
- Ensures plant rules are explained to outside carriers and drivers; investigates any issues.
- Maintains updated Reacts training
- Ensures employees work safely and adhere to safety regulations/procedures; conduct safety inspections.
- Works with HES dept. to coordinate emergency response training based on REACTS training received.
- Supports AIMS, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 management systems.
Context and environment
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, plant safety and environmental requirements with special emphasis on Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Ensure that all department members follow required HES training.
- Complies with all external regulatory requirements, industry best practices and internal policies.
- Available to support continuous plant operations as needed, including rotating weekend duty for possible Logistics issues.
- Ability to wear personnel protective equipment such as respirators.
- Demonstrates commitment to HES through high visibility and actions.
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements.
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.).
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents.
- Supervises staff across an overlapping 4 /10 hour shift and 4/12 hour rotating shift environment.
- Travel 10% or less.
Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years logistics operations experience; in lieu of degree, ten (10) years of experience in Logistics Operations; chemical plant preferred.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations.
Demonstrated Competencies
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Intermediate skills in MS office; knowledge of SAP preferred.
