Bostik Calhoun is now hiring a Maintenance Lead.

Maintenance Lead

  • Repairs manufacturing, packaging, material handling, and process equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Uses EAM System to maintain maintenance records, parts inventory, and other pertinent information.
  • Plan, organize, direct and evaluate plant maintenance systems, and activities.
  • Maintain inventory levels on tools, spare parts and other maintenance items within budgetary guidelines.
  • Improve the plant preventative and predictive maintenance program.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and perform Job Hazard Analysis for all new equipment.
  • Repair and maintain equipment, building and grounds.
  • Install and validate the performance of all line equipment and process systems.
  • Maintain insurance inspection records.  Coordinate appropriate action on all recommended changes.
  • Direct outside contractors in safety and supervise the work being completed.
  • Conduct problem solving activities with the team.
  • Be a member of the Plant Leadership team.
  • Addresses safety issues.
  • Provide technical direction to employees who are responsible for performing housekeeping and routine maintenance
  • Actively promotes plant safety improvement and programs including CARE, Smartcard, Pure Safety, 5S and operator safety checklists.
  • Support Continuous Improvement through shop floor use of problem solving tools and Kaizen participation.
  • Creates purchase requisitions for maintenance goods and services.
  • Supports implementation of SMART

 

Activities of Maintenance Lead

  • Practice and enforce safe work habits in accordance with OSHA and EPA guidelines, and Bostik specific EHS expectations
  • Make regular rounds of production floor to identify and correct issues and potential safety, quality and production issues proactively.
  • Identify maintenance mechanical issues and ensure repairs are made in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Maintain full compliance and support for overall company policies, procedures and practices
  • Experience with advanced maintenance planning techniques and CMMS (computerized maintenance management system), preferably EAM
  • Knowledge and practice of lean manufacturing or 6 sigma techniques desirable
  • Previous experience in Inventory Control Systems and Kanban methodology preferred.
  • Ability to read machinery blue prints, (P&ID) required
  • Follow written instructions and standard operating procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Demonstrate sound decision-making and problem solving ability.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and work with Continuous Improvement teams.
  • Familiar with Lockout/Tagout requirements
  • Familiar with Behavior Based Safety

 

Context and environment of Maintenance Lead

  • Work in a fast paced production environment where safety, accuracy and speed are essential. Simultaneous competing priorities require effective and efficient multi-tasking to succeed.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Use of hand and power tools as well as forklifts, scissor lifts, slings / lifting equipment.
  • Use of computer for data management and training.

 

Accountabilities of Maintenance Lead

  • Maintain equipment and report issues to management as needed.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns efficiently to maximize uptime
  • Completion of assigned tasks.
  • Understanding of production and process equipment.
  • Adherence to Bostik, OSHA, and local regulations / policies.

 

Qualifications / experience required of Maintenance Lead

  • High school diploma with continuing education/related certifications; degree in industrial maintenance a plus.
  • 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • PLC knowledge/experience a plus (Allen Bradley).
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Willing to work an off shift and overtime as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards
  • Material planning experience
  • Ability to apply team-oriented problem solving to identify and eliminate root causes of safety, quality and production concerns using applicable problem solving tools.
  • QMS or related education in Lean, 6 Sigma and Theory of Constraints preferred
  • OSHA training preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Office applications, Outlook)
  • EAM experience preferred
