Job Title: Sr. Buyer / Scheduler / Planner 

Department: Logistics

FLSA Status: Exempt Administrative / Professional

 

Position summary:  Conducts and monitors various planning processes of the facility to ensure that all production demands are met and maintained. Creates and maintains the entire facility’s production schedule as needed based on customer demand and forecasts. Purchases assigned materials for use. Maintains proper inventory levels of finished goods. Coordination with various internal and external entities is required.

 

Position responsibilities:

  • Comply with Corporate EHS safety and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor all process orders and ensure raw materials to support planned production are available for use prior to production start
  • Develop of the production schedule based on inputs (forecasts, demand, capacity constraints, manning, material availability) from Plant Leadership Team and Supply Chain
    • Run ZMTO process daily and communicate variances to CSR
    • Run ZMTS process daily and communicate variances to Cs
    • Print and assemble production formulas weekly
    • Order assigned raw materials weekly and receive into SAP as necessary
    • Assist Production with discrepant process orders and teach to correct processes/behavior
    • Make recommendations on wheel schedule to drive improvement in asset utilization to help reduce production downtime
  • Monitor production schedule daily to ensure adherence. Report all delays and reason(s) to appropriate personnel, including Supply Chain and Customer Service
  • Lead SIOP and Production Schedule weekly meetings and participate in others as necessary
  • Work with the Customer Service group when necessary
  • Work with the QC lab on the releasing of product for On-Time Shipment
  • Collaborate with the Purchaser for raw materials when needed; adjust production schedule accordingly
  • Coordinate and track the use of Broken Stock and Rework to ensure the correct amount authorized by the chemist goes into each batch when available
  • Track and improve Schedule Adherence and contribute to improvement of OTS
  • Generate reports relevant to position KPI’s
  • Schedule and communicate any planned downtime for shutdowns, maintenance, etc.
  • Assure compliance with all company policies
  • Serve as backup to Logistics & Material Manager in their absence.

 

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Industrial Management, related degree or relevant experience
  • 5+ Years of experience in manufacturing planning/scheduling
  • Demonstrated computer aptitude to include SAP and Microsoft Office applications (Excel in particular)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative with cross-functional teams
  • Problem solving experience

 

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • APICS CPIM Certification
  • Experience in Six Sigma, strong understanding of lean manufacturing, quality systems (ISO) and visual management methods (kanban, heijunka)
