Reports to Plant Manager.  Direct reports include: Warehouse Shift Leads, Planner/Scheduler and Traffic Coordinator.

 

Job dimensions

Direct manager for warehouse and logistics operations personnel

Manage inventory levels and accuracy

Manage issues dealing with availability issues (raw material and carrier)

 

 

 

Activities
  • Safely manage warehouse operations i.e. shipping, receiving, material handling, cycle counting, materials procurement and planning.
  • Provide support and guidance for the logistics team including on the off-shifts as needed.
  • Ensure all employees complete their safety training and follow all EHS requirements.
  • Work closely with Production Manager to ensure proper inventory levels to support order fulfillment and financial objectives.
  • Interact with personnel outside the Temecula Plant in customer service, sales, inventory management, logistics and financial operations to meet objectives.
  • Hire, train and develop associates to support operational objectives
  • Foster a team-based culture with a high level of employee participation
  • Measure and continuously improve assigned key performance indicators (KPI’s) including Perfect Orders, Inventory Accuracy, Sleeping Inventory
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and organization of the warehouses
  • Participate on plant leadership team and drive plant performance
  • Communicate forecasts to suppliers in adequation with Purchasing strategy, production planing and inventory managemment
  • Place Purchasing orders  (grade /  quantity / delivery date / special instructions) - Maintain PO dates in ERP
  • Check delivery and price for purchased materials. Update PO if necessary
  • Coordinate transportation needs on inbound freight as necessary
  • Supervise inventory management (raw materials, packaging)
  • Monitor and document supplier quality and service performance and participate to annual Supplier Assessment data collection
  • Propose supplier improvement opportunities
  • Manage intercompany transactions
Context and environment
  • The job involves working in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Key drivers in the role are customer service, process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Time on the floor should be 50%

 

Accountabilities

  • The purpose of the role is to lead and manage the site logistics team to meet service level expectations of the customer and manage the flow of inventory to support production and shipping needs.

Qualifications / experience required

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree.  APICS certification strongly preferred.
  • APICS certification
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in warehousing, procurement or inventory control.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Applications.  Experience in AS400, Movex, Lotus Notes or SAP is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
