Arkema, Inc. based out of King of Prussia, PA, is seeking to hire a Strategic Sourcing Manager - energy commodities and services, catalysts, and industrial gases.
This position is responsible for $100M in spend and the responsible and sustainable use related to energy commodities and services, catalysts, and industrial gases at Arkema facilities in North America, including Bostik. This role is responsible for formulating and executing purchasing strategies to manage risk, availability and quality of energy & materials at the lowest total cost of ownership. The Strategic Sourcing Manager routinely works with regional and global business leaders, supply chain management, finance, manufacturing, engineering, R&D, and others to ensure alignment of projects/activities with Purchasing goals and objectives.
This position reports to the Regional Vice President of Raw Materials, Energy & Packaging, along with 5 others, including 2 Procurement Directors, 1 Sr. Strategic Sourcing Manager, 1 Procurement Manager, Process and System Support, and 1 Sr. Executive Administrator.
Key Activities
Strategic Sourcing
- Manages energy portfolio holdings and forecasting for the company by developing a structured risk mitigation strategy, including but not limited to hedging, and providing primary energy complex inputs into financial forecasts.
- Participates in the development and execution of strategies aligned to Arkema’s sustainability Goals. A primary focus would be on helping to develop renewable energy options aligned to our enterprise and business specific goals.
- Conducts comprehensive market analysis and supplier screening (strategic direction, financial due diligence, market position, power within industry, capabilities & capacity, risk assessment) and develop strategies for their portfolio with key business partners.
- Negotiates and implements commercial agreements and contracts catered to supply situations and ensure that they are aligned with a strategy to ensure business continuity through the agreements.
- Drives an environment that leads Sourcing best practices, policies, quality, safety and compliance.
- Supports members of the Global Energy & Commodity team to analyze complex supplier proposals and using decisionmaking tools and models, including financial and non-financial criteria, to facilitate award recommendations.
- Creates and maintains pricing models and predictive models for energy, feedstock and other key cost drivers for all key materials.
- Conducts monthly analytics on Purchase Price Variance and estimate the annual spend for each commodity within his/her
- responsibility and leverage these analyses in business planning, strategies and negotiations.
- Participates in the development of new products through early involvement with the BU, Engineering and R&D on alternative identification and supply agreement negotiations.
- Validates contracts according to their DOA (Delegations of Authority)
Purchasing Liaison to H202
- Primary purchasing liaison for Hydrogen Peroxide business ensuring appropriate communication and coordination of material needs. Material strategies may be owned by other sourcing managers.
Tactical Purchasing
- Manages monthly/quarterly price negotiations and hedging to manage costs and risks, in alignment with global strategy.
- Resolves delivery and quality issues with suppliers.
- Provides guidance and coaching to local buyers in supplier management.
- Conducts monthly analytics on Purchase Price Variance and estimates the annual spend for each commodity within his/her.
- responsibility and leverages theses analyses in business planning, strategies and negotiation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in chemistry, chemical engineering, or relevant technical equivalent
- Some experience in financial KPI and purchasing impact on P/L
- Broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities
- 10 years’ experience, minimum of 5 years global or multi-regional experience in procurement or in business/sales required
- Significant track record of savings achieved through innovative procurement programs and tactics
