Job Title: Senior Chemist – Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
Key Activities and responsibilities:
- Provide technical support in the area of NMR Spectroscopy to all Arkema Inc. R&D units, process technology, manufacturing plants, and HES groups.
- Writes and issues technical reports with guidance from senior staff.
- Working under senior NMR staff, modifies existing methods as required to complete analysis
- Operate, and assist in overseeing maintenance of NMR laboratory equipment (1-300MHz, 1-300MHz solid-state, 1-400 MHz and 1 500MHz).
- Provide updates on the status of key projects and analytical requests with clear emphasis on value.
- Conduct analyses of 10-15 requests (25-100 samples) per month, depending on technique and complexity, using a range of NMR methods that are both routine and non-routine in nature, organizes and interprets data and writes reports detailing the work.
- Use internal networks to overcome issues, find solutions, and achieve objectives.
- Maintain awareness in nuclear magnetic resonance techniques and apply to Arkema interests and products.
- Actively participate in Arkema’s safety programs and lead relevant safety projects as required.
Required Education/Qualifications /Work experience:
- BS in Chemistry, Polymer, or Materials Sciences. Up to 2 years industrial experience.
- Exposure to NMR operation and spectral interpretation is a plus.
- Experience in either analytical or quality control labs highly desirable.
- Familiarity with other analytical techniques is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of collaboration and teamwork.
- Self-starting ability with exceptional time and project management skills.
- Desire / Motivation to learn.
