Senior Lead Process Engineer Job

Member of the Fluorospecialties BU Process Technology organization.

Located in King of Prussia supporting Fluorospecialties BU, directly reporting to Global Process Technology.




Support R&D

  • Interface with regional and global R&D leading to piloting and other scale up activities, process technology development and subsequent process engineering.
  • Run pilot studies at Arkema’s facilities or at vendors.

Support process conceptual studies

  • Conduct basic engineering work and process analysis on complex plant unit operations.
  • Study process alternatives and develop preliminary economics analysis.
  • Utilize process-modeling software such as Aspen and interpret data to generate solutions.

Prepare process-engineering packages

  • Prepare PFD’s, P&ID’s, heat and material balances, etc.
  • Use knowledge of safety regulations and environmental issues, and incorporate them into engineering work.
  • Participate and lead Hazard Reviews.  Lead Hazop action closure.

Support tolling operations 

  • Initiate Fluorospecialties processes at tolling operations
  • Support to Fluorospecialties operations at tolling facilities

Support plants

  • Coordinate process tests with plants and provide oversight.        
  • Develop and lead small capital projects and provides process support to larger capital projects.
  • Support operations. Give direction to hourly workers and hold accountable for results.
  • Assist operations as needed during deviations; use analysis skills for troubleshooting, turnaround support, etc.
  • Will assume the role of team leader or subject matter expert as needed and may establish priorities for employees or teams.



Will require domestic and occasional international travel up to 25%

  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, Safe Start, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents



  • Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • Higher degree candidates (MS ChE) as well as higher experience level candidates will be able to provide higher value in this role. 
  • Additional certifications, such as lean six sigma are preferred. 
  • More than 10 years industrial experience in multiple process engineering/technology roles and/or businesses is required.
  • Experience in supporting occupational safety activities at the site is preferred.
  • Prior Fluorospecialties experience is a plus.



  • Deep understanding of process chemistry and engineering. Independently identifies bottlenecks and opportunities in the process and recognized technical leader.
  • Efficient use of six sigma tools and develops project opportunities based on data analysis. Coaches less experienced engineers to use appropriate data analysis tools. Applies knowledge gained from previous assignments and shares/uses information between plants to solve problems.
  • Continues external training and learning (e.g.. AICHE courses) or maintains PE certification. Be able to provide core-training courses, if opportunity or need arises.  Documented customized development plan to career direction.
  • Deep understanding of technology, unit operations, and control technology at multiple sites and unit operations within BU. Able to apply expertise across BUs.  Helps others with Arkema methods and tools.
  • BU recognized technology leader. Develops expertise in Fluorospecialties.  May be tasked to provide cross-BU support.  Expertise in R&D support and scale up.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing solutions to close compliance items for sites, makes recommendations for sites within BU on effective cause analysis and gap closure concepts.
  • Is a PHA team leader and may acquire PHA facilitation skills.  SME for safety integrity level (SIL) calculation. Has fundamental understanding of PSM/RMP core elements
  • Leads efforts to develop and analyze options in a capital projects by assessing all considerations (technical, financial, safety, environmental). Well-versed in AGATE and coaches less experienced engineers to use the methodology.
  • Actively networks and consults with members within and outside BU; focal point for issue resolution by BU management.  Actively participates in corporate initiative(s).  Skilled leader of Arkema work processes. Messaging, presentations and written reporting to BU audience.
  • Has network outside BU and/ or externally (e.g.. AICHE, CCPS, etc.). Mentors less experienced engineers outside of BU.
  • Contributes to BU specific intellectual property activities.
  • Expert in completion of CSR deliverables for projects and plant support programs.  Knowledge and application of CSR related technologies.
  • Expert in multiple manufacturing digital tools.  Mentors others inside BU.  Well versed in new digital developments applied at Arkema.
  • Application of multiple manufacturing digital tools, simulation and databases.  Brings new Arkema tools to BU.  May lead digital portfolio at site.
