Job dimensions

This position is responsible for generating analytical data in support of Arkema’s R&D and Technical Service/Development programs .  The analytical data is analyzed and reported to internal customers after consultation with a senior scientist.  This position requires hands on laboratory work involving a variety of analytical tools and methods including rheology, small-scale extrusion work and powder characterization. Work is performed in accordance to safe laboratory practices and with active participation in Arkema’s safety initiatives and programs


- Performs routine and non-routine laboratory testing of samples utilizing standard rheological techniques

- Mulititasks effectively and efficiently organizes routine work

- Evaluates and interprets generated data with supervision

- Maintains laboratory notebooks and appropriate records

- Troubleshoots problems and proposes solutions

 - Writes technical reports and communicates results to supervisor, group management and internal customers

 - Works collaboratively with teams of other researchers to solve problems

 - Maintains safe laboratory practices and a strong commitment to Arkema safety culture.

-  Practices 5S methodology for lab organization

Context and Environment

-Position is part of the U.S. subsidiary of a large, international chemical company. 

-The position interacts predominantly with R&D staff at the King of Prussia site


-Personal and lab safety.

-The quality and timeliness of the work product generated.

-Contributions to and participation in departmental safety initiatives.

-Maintaining laboratory notebooks and appropriate records

Qualifications / Experience Required

- BA/BS in Materials Science, Polymer Science, or Chemistry

- Laboratory experience, knowledge of  instrumented rheological techniques, either meltphase, solid or powder

- Good organizational skills and proficiency in data analysis

- Proficiency with computer software (spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and graphical analysis)

- Ability to work independently and in a team environment

- Strong oral communication skills
