Position reports to the Manager Processes and Systems, Direct Materials Procurement. 

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • SAP Contracts - Manage contracts in Contract Management System. – 40%
    • Maintain superior level of accuracy while creating and verifying material pricing information to ensure variable margins are not compromised.
    • Manage the integrity of company purchases through verification and maintenance of all required purchasing documents; {contracts, vendor set up, pricing, payment terms, etc.}
    • Manage data supporting hedging activities.  Provide support to ensure that daily reporting on Nat Gas and Soybean Oil spreadsheets are accurate and up to date.
    • Develop metrics and process to increase raw material price accuracy.
  • Accounting – 40%
    • Resolve all invoice exceptions.  Work directly with suppliers to review/resolve invoice discrepancies for a portfolio of total spend of $1B.
    • Ensure all credit notes and rebates are secured and posted.
    • Develop metrics to identify opportunities to support Working Capital initiative.
    • Identify suppliers that have repeated exceptions and root cause and solve problems to reduce number of exceptions.
  • Processes – 20%
    • Maintain a high level of accuracy on all processes managed for audit purposes. 
    • Ensure that Supplier Assessment Forms are sent out to all new Raw Material Suppliers. Review their websites to see if the supplier is ISO 9001 certified. Review documents submitted by buyers for prospective vendors to ensure compliance with all requirements.
    • Participates in development and implementation of purchasing systems and procedures.
    • Assist Purchasing Manager with projects as needed.

Context and Environment

  • The Procurement Assistant executes operational activities for the Direct Material Procurement group
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience

  • High School Grade, BAS or AS degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum 4-6 years experience working in Supply Chain or Purchasing position preferred

  • Must be detailed oriented and possess the ability to analyze data
