Project Lead, is responsible for leading the IT scope of business-driven or technical initiatives.  Responsibilities include the following:

 

  • Lead global projects and oversee large to small implementations including integrations with other applications/services, acquisitions, divestitures, upgrades, etc.  
  • Lead collaboration efforts between IT, Business Process Owners and Procurement to align new vendor applications with business needs.
  • Manage, create cost/ benefit analysis, project actual cost tracking, maintain roadmaps, and ensuring global communication of project progress.
  • Manage project team resources including internal IT resources, contractors, Business Process Owners, and/or vendor resources.   Projects may include SAP or non-SAP applications, regional or global scope, for on premise or SAAS solutions.
  • Serve as back up to the Finance and HR Applications Manager as required including alignment with Finance, Human Resource, and global Counterparts.
  • This position will apply project management, functional, and/or technical expertise in the area of SAP Finance, HR and integrated systems, relating to application projects, system enhancements and support activities that can impact over 10,000 users across multiple ERP system landscapes.

 

This position reports to Manager, Finance/HR Applications, with 3 Senior Analysts.

Other positions at this level include Project Leads across all IT groups.

This position does not formally supervise other positions, but will lead resources assigned to projects. 

Project leaders report to IT management, business management, gatekeepers and/or steering committees for the duration of the project

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Project Lead

  • Performs IT project management role through all project stages, as defined by internal IT project methodologies: initiation, requirements & evaluation, preparation & launching, design, construction & startup, and formal transition to ongoing application support process.
  • Project management role includes:  collaborate with business and/or staff department leaders on project management activities, including project planning, resource management, stage gate activities, strategy development (e.g. technical, communications, change management, cutover), preparing recommendations for approval, leading milestone/stage gate/stakeholder meetings, conduct workshops, identifying/evaluating alternative solutions, risk assessments, and transition to application support
  • Leads and/or performs project activities:  Gather business/technical requirements, design solutions to meet requirements, facilitate vendor evaluation and selection, develop functional/technical specs that align with process design, configure and integrate applications, perform  unit testing, conduct walk-throughs, facilitate user integration/acceptance testing, analysis of system issues, prepare technical documentation, cutover to production, go live user support and stabilization. 
  • Works collaboratively with IT management and teams to leverage functional/technical expertise within other IT teams during all project phases, for delivery of security design, external data processes, infrastructure, and programming.  
  • Works collaboratively with process owners, business stakeholders, and staff departments, to leverage their professional expertise during all project phases, for delivery of requirements, process design, testing, user training, communications, cutover to production, etc.  

Application Enhancements

  • Leads enhancements requiring integrated business process definition with no direct supervision, and translates high-level business requirements into detailed functional specifications.
  • Gather business/technical requirements, design processes to meet business requirements, participate in vendor evaluation and selection, develop functional/technical specs that align with process design, configure and integrate applications, perform unit testing, conduct walk-throughs, facilitate user testing process, analysis of system issues, prepare technical documentation, lead or participate in cutover to production, provide go live user support and stabilization.
  • Collaborates with process owners and users in a consultative role to define requirements and design solutions
  • Evaluates options, and presents recommendation to IT/business stakeholders.

 

Application Support

  • Performs second level support activities, including ongoing business modifications, routine maintenance, root cause analysis, and fixing bugs.  Resolves complex issues independently, and proactively initiates problem prevention.  Consults with others engaged in complex issue resolution. 
  • Performs problem analysis, independent research, programming specs, configuration, testing and documentation. 
  • Manages maintenance assignments including updating, enhancing, and/or streamlining of technical functions of the system, including data or system cleanup, or standardizing processes.
  • Collaborates with process owners, supports continuous improvement and develops a positive customer relationship, to improve processes and reliability, and position Arkema for future business needs.

 

CONTEXT

  • Travel dependent on project, enhancement or support activities; typically less than 10%.
  • Periodically will be responsible for project, enhancement or support activities outside of normal working hours.
  • Follows and enforces internal IT policies and standards such as:  user support process, promote-to-production process, development and testing practices, security policies, documentation standards and communication practices.
  • Follows internal IT project management methodologies and uses selected tools.
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of related IT experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting or finance is strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading IT projects and teams to successful completion and applying appropriate project management skills/methodology.
  • Ability to collaborate with and advise business partners and management with respect to project scope, planning, costs and resources to deliver on project goals.
  • Proficiency in technical/business/professional aspects of systems/applications/tools, including SAP.
  • Proficiency in some of the following SAP Finance modules:  FI, CO (including product costing, profitability analysis and material ledger), AA, and/or PS as well as integration experience with non-SAP Finance applications.  
  • Knowledge and/or experience with various SAP tools to deliver functionality and integration including IMG/Configuration, ABAP, SmartForms, RFC, ALE, IDOC, ALV, LSMW, etc. as well as PC office tools and application reporting and customization tools.
  • Proficiency in client support and applying technology to deliver business requirements
