Digital Workplace Manager manages a team and department that is responsible for the workstations for Arkema Inc., for the AMAS Region. Managing the design, operations, and contributing to the global strategic roadmap of Arkema’s workstation compute environment. 


  • The Digital Workspace team will support an employee population of over 3,000 users in 40+ plants as well as the HQ/R&D Center (the US headquarters) located in King of Prussia. 
  • The team designs and provides third level support for 3,000+ personal computers (digital workspace).
  • The team supports the design and build 50+ thin client deployments at public warehouses.
  • The team supports Office 365 Management, Microsoft Exchange, and Identity Management for the AMAS region working closely with global counterparts to ensure consistency throughout operations in the Digital Workplace global initiatives.
  • The team design and provides second/third level support for 25+ Macs users and build out the roadmap of mac OS environment.
  • The team supports the design and build of handhelds and time clocks at all locations in the AMAS region and third level support.  Ongoing support activities are transitioned from the DW team to the STS team.
  • The team collaborates with the EMEA and APAC Digital Workplace teams on initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Server infrastructure is not within the scope of this team.
  • Digital Workplace Manager works within the corporate IT as part of the Infrastructure department.
  • Reports directly to the Director of Infrastructure and Operations.
  • Other positions at this level that report to the Director include 4 managers and 1 other professional
  • This person supervises 3 professionals at the analyst, senior analyst, and/or technical consultant level, including 1-10 contractors. 




Management of Digital Workspace Activities: 


  • Responsible for the engineering and design of the workstation compute architecture.  As part of a global team - this person acts as the liaison for the Americas as it relates to all global digital workspace engineering and deployment activities. This person is also responsible for managing and providing technical support for thin clients used at third party warehouses and for third level support for all Personal Computing technical problems.


Specific responsibilities of the Digital workspace function include:


  • Management and support for PC imaging and software distribution
  • Collaborate with other members of IT and the Business to recommend hardware and software to continue to drive the Arkema’s Digital Transformation.
  • Ensuring Thin Client image preparation and deployment
  • Managing/tracking inventory of PC hardware and software
  • PC technical guidance and support for Applications and Client Services personnel
  • Reporting on KPI data involving workstation patch management, virus definition updates, and other critical information related to workstation hardware and software.

The person in this position manages people by:


  • Evaluating and assessing resource needs.
  • Managing internal and external resources and allocation.
  • Providing coaching and ensuring ongoing professional development of direct reports and across teams.
  • Managing functional and administrative aspects of the team including performance reviews.
  • Leading and conducting research to make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
  • Monitoring the ongoing performance of IT service providers.
  • Supporting Corporate Procurement in their IT purchasing and Software licensing compliance activities.


Management of Security Related Activities:


  • Digital workspace security activities include:  Responsibility for personal computer operating system security patches, the administration of Anti-Virus and White-Listing software, BMC and other digital workspace technologies.  In addition, this role is responsible for technology used for personal computing and for restorations.




  • Requires the management of digital workspace functions outside of normal business hours for issue resolution and upgrades as required
  • Occasional domestic or possible international travel for meetings/projects – approximately 10 to 15%
  • The person in this position operates in a rapidly changing, highly technical environment.  This technical environment is in a state of constant change that must be managed and controlled in order to provide cost effective service to the company.  In addition to Digital workspace related technologies, there are other IT-related disciplines such as data networking, cyber security, and Internet related technologies which must be taken into account
  • The person in this position must follow Arkema IT standards such as:
  • User support and request process, development and testing practices, security policies, documentation standards and communication practices.
  • The person in this position must follow Arkema’s IT project management and Stage-Gate methodologies.
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)




  • Bachelor Degree required.  Master’s Degree or specific certifications a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in applying systems solution to business needs, including foundational knowledge of desktop technology and operations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Windows workstations and virtualization experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing one or more people in a technology department.
  • Minimum of 3 years project management experience, including large projects
  • Experience in applying technology to business requirements, consultation, and configuration of clients’ needs.




  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required to properly assess priorities, schedule and assign skilled resources.
  • Strong organizational skills are required to work on multiple simultaneous dissimilar activities.
  • Strong planning and risk analysis skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed to work with various levels of end users from business groups, staff groups, and management.
