Situation in Organization

The Demand Manager reports to the Supply Chain Director and has no direct reports.


Job Dimensions

The Demand Manager is in charge of balanced supply/demand of multiple product lines using various statistical modeling methods.  This role leads supply chain operations for plants, tolling operations, and import of product, to support a structured S&OP process. This role monitors Supply Chain KPIs and works with the broader organization to drive improvement and optimization.

Product, produced from 2 US plants and global imports. Inventory managed is at 3 plant locations, 2 tollers, and 5 warehouses. 


Key Activities & Responsibilities

Lead Supply Chain Operations for Thiochemicals plants, tolling operations, and import of product, including: (35%)

  • Support SC operations and ensure a supply and demand balance (short/mid & long term).
  • Identify appropriate forecast bias to identify imbalances and work with business leader for resolution
  • Develop business cases for changes in supply chain operations; including, but not limited to: debottlenecking, staffing, equipment purchases/releases, lease arrangements, changes in distribution network, etc.
  • Coordinate supply chain planning and execution activities with Latin America, Europe and Asia where applicable
  • Serve as the business coordinator for domestic and international shipments and ensure adequate shipment equipment
  • Implement logistic savings and cost avoidance initiatives in conjunction with corporate logistics
  • Monitor and transact SAP tolling process
  • Serve as Depot Coordinator for specific BU managed warehouses, in compliance with the Logistics Directive D-HS11, managing insurance requirement documents and periodic HES site review and approvals
  • Responsible for master data integrity: creation/change/obsoleting requests
  • Ensure SAP material, location, contracts, service purchases are set up and transactions are consistent with Supply Chain and Accounting requirements

Lead the Sales and Operations Planning, Execution process by managing the following activities: (40%)

  • Develop production volume plan and track the overall execution of the plan
  • Collaborate with manufacturing sites on regular S&OP reviews to ensure timely supply of product and track actual vs. plan
  • Resolve supply/demand mismatches and employ optimal alternatives
  • Oversee finite plant scheduling activities
  • Partner with manufacturing and tolling sites to coordinate/improve production scheduling and raw material procurement
  • Proactively manage working capital targets including blocked & aged inventory
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by ensuring that inventory reconciliation is done in accordance to corporate guidelines  
  • Follow the logistics strategy and execution for domestic and export transportation, inter-plant transfers and fleet management guidelines  
  • Champion changes to the business or forecast strategy as appropriate
  • Champion opportunities to improve supply capabilities as appropriate
  • Manage the tolling operations:
  • Develop tolling plan to meet demand projections at lowest possible cost
  • Utilize SAP tolling process to track and monitor results; adjust plan as required

Lead Supply Chain initiatives to support business and process improvement, including digitalization: (20%)

  • Execute the BU Service Offer.  Monitor adherence, performance, and financial impacts via supply chain SMART and Cash Dashboards
  • Serve as the gate-keeper for incorporating new product SKUs into the S&OP process, including material master maintenance
  • Promote adherence, performance (financial + service) via supply chain KPIs and the adaptation of tools by the broader organization
  • Contribute to the implementation of processes and tools for improved inter-region activities as designated by the Supply Chain Directors
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of digital initiatives, reporting, and process/performance improvement. 
  • Manage the adaptation of tools by the broader organization
  • Provide SAP expertise to support new initiatives & implementations, as well as existing processes
  • Track progress against SC KPI targets

Talent Management and Development of team (5%)

  • Attract, develop and retain talent in alignment with the organizational strategy and needs of the business
  • Develop talent via cross training, assignments, formal education, and mobility
  • Support teamwork via group initiatives, management meetings, communications and cross functional assignments


Context & Environment

This position is based in King of Prussia. Less than 15% travel is expected

  • This position is a focal point for the business and manufacturing, and works as a liaison between Global Supply Chain, Business Managers, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Logistics, Purchasing, Finance, Marketing, Regulatory, Third Party terminals, warehouses, suppliers, competitors and carriers, etc. to optimize all aspects of the regional supply chain
  • This position leads necessary activities to ensure the operating plans can be executed and meet the commercial demands, and lead activities to resolve problems that do occur
  • Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents


Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or Technical field                                            
  • 5-7 years of direct supply chain experience (3-5 years of experience in Sales Support or Customer Service)
  • Experience in Transportation Management Systems required                                             
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel skills) required
  • Experience in SC Optimization Systems (i.e. Picaso) and system integrations
  • Proficient in Power BI Dashboards
  • APICS Certification a plus                      
  • SAP skills including MM/PP, SD and F&P required                                                                            
  • Project Management experience required
