Buyer - Indirect Purchasing Job

Arkema Americas Goods and Services Purchasing has an opening for a Buyer on our team, to be based out of the N.A. Corporate Headquarters in King of Prussia, PA (soon to be Radnor, PA).

 

This job is responsible for performing all functions related to creating, processing, and optimizing the Purchase Order process in SAP for indirect purchases for their assigned sites. The position will process ~15,000 purchase order line items per year.

 

This position will work closely with Regional Managers, Strategic Managers, employees who submit purchase requisitions at the local sites, as well as Accounts Payable. Reports to the Buyer Manager and has no direct reports.

 

 

KEY ACTIVITIES:

 

 

Manage Purchase to Pay Process (75%)

  • Process purchase requisitions according for all assigned sites in accordance with established Purchasing
  • Policies, Procedures, and Arkema policies and procedures.
  • Examine and analyze purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information; contact initiator to
  • clarify or complete information, determine method to process requisition based on strategy and timeliness
  • required.
  • Update delivery dates on Purchase Orders as a result of changes to the order acknowledgement, and
  • communicate with the planner or the indirect material sourcing manager.
  • Communicate identified conflicts in delivery dates between the requested delivery date of the Planner and the
  • Supplier, and work to resolve delivery related issues to dates.
  • Manage supplier complaints by working with the supplier and BU/Plants to determine root cause through
  • resolution, and track the complaint through close. Continue to monitor to ensure issues are not repeated.

Support Regional and Strategic Sourcing Managers (15%)

  • Support Regional and Strategic Managers in their efforts to achieve their objectives (strategy implementation,
  • inventory management, etc.)
  • Utilize knowledge of key suppliers and the market to optimize the source of supply and identify savings
  • opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Regional and Strategic Managers to identify and execute savings initiatives at the
  • plant level.

 

 

Communication & Coordination of Portfolio Learning (10%)

  • Learn to evaluate bids and make awards as directed by Regional and Strategic Sourcing Managers.
  • Liaison between Indirect Purchasing, BU’s and plants.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field (preferred) with at least 2 years experience in Procurement/Sourcing/Supply Chain or High School Diploma or equivalent with 5+ years experience.
  • Proficient in computer applications including SAP, MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Computerized Query Tools.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
