Arkema Inc. is actively recruiting for a Production Engineer to support our Houston facility.  At Arkema, the Production Engineer is responsible for supporting, assisting, and troubleshooting problems with the opportunity for improving the process conditions, as required to ensure production performance Houston site. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager, provides technical assistance for plant operations, and requires direct interaction with other departmental managers and staff positions to exchange information and ideas directly related to the success of the Houston plant and Thiochemicals Group.

 

This position is responsible for, but not limited to:

 

  • Maximize operational efficiency and continuously identify and evaluate opportunities for improvement.
  • Review and evaluate unit operations, make recommendations for changes to improve capability of the unit to produce quality products as desires rates, and reduce the amount of waste generated.
  • Provide assistance to Operations during plant turnarounds, emergency operations, and any other time technical assistance is required.
  • Interacting with other departments to ensure thorough understanding and commitment to Production Department goals and priorities.
  • Develop and maintain current process flow diagrams and associated material balances.
  • Leading or assisting troubleshooting efforts to avoid or minimize production upsets/or downtime.
  • Track production performance, metrics, yields and MUV, AU/OAU.
  • Support full compliance of all safety related regulatory requirements including OSHA, PSM, RMP, and Company policies and programs (MSM).
  • Complete all assigned action items.
  • Support full environmental compliance and optimal performance.
  • Ensure that permit compliance data and new permit applications are reviewed and are consistent with best engineering practices.
  • Develop skills required to support the Houston Plant and Thiochemicals Group through professional development of technical skills, interpersonal relationship skills, management skills, and community relations.
  • Ensure that specific goals are developed that correspond with Plant objectives and initiatives

 

To be considered for this role, the following is required:

 

  • BS Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a Process Engineer role in a chemical plant setting; experience may be offset for a candidate who has successfully completed Arkema’s Development Engineer program.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot chemical processing to achieve production goals.
  • Communication and presentation skills are necessary to convey interpretations of process data and recommendations for improvement.
  • Demonstrates ownership, attention to details, time management, and organization skills.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in cross-functional teams to deliver concrete project deliverables in a timely manner.
