Job Dimensions

As a part of the Carelflex Process, the Chemical Services Specialist Coordinator  provides technical assistance of Sulfiding Missions in order to activate catalyst in-situ at Customer's facilities (i.e. refineries and petrochemical facilities) in the US and Canada.  The Specialist organizes and manages the work of a team by ensuring HESQ responsibility over the entire scope of service.  During these missions, the Specialist is Arkema's primary liaison with the customer

Work Schedule:

  • 8 hour work day in an office environment when not at a customer's facility on an assigned mission
  • 12 hour shift when assigned onsite during a Carelflex mission.
  • Responsible for 16-24 assigned missions per year (interchangeably as lead or team member)
  • Responsible for oversite of all Carelflex activities which can include sub-contractor activities while onsite at a customer's facility.

Key activities and responsibilities

Perform the duties of a Carelflex Specialist including:

Pre/Post preparation and reporting (including, but not limited to the following)

  • Customer communication prior to, during and post Sulfide activities 
  • Pre/Post-job walk through of process units at Customer sites
  • Technical Package preparation and delivery to North American Carelflex Team and Customer
  • Material and equipment transportation and/or coordination
  • Provides relevant information for assigned sulfides in report form utilizing Microsoft office or Adobe software to facilitate on time invoicing protocol for Commercial team

Operational activities

  • Performs, communicates and records equipment validation, troubleshooting, light maintenance and repair duties related to pump and analyzer activities
  • Delivery, setup and monitoring of Carelflex equipment(analyzer, pumps and telemetry skids) during requested service
  • Onsite equipment and material management. Movement of DMDS from supply to injection trailer(s).  Connection of nitrogen lines, flare lnes and product transfer lines between trailers and refinery units as appropriate to perform sulfiding injections.  Connecting, operating and disconnecting high pressure pumps. Regulating flow rates during the chemical injection. Recording and communicating all data as required on logs.

Context and Environment 

  • Supports all company and customer site HESQ policies and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements (e.g. Behavioral Based Safety, Safe Start, CBT training, etc.)
  • The Carelflex Services Specialist is a ThioChemicals - DMDS business Carelflex support position based at the Arkema - Crosby site.  Regular interaction with the North American Carelflex team (Market Manager, Account Managers, Supply Chain/Customer Service, Carelflex Services Specialist, sub-contractors and vendors). The Successful candidate will be proficient in sulfiding procedures, DMDS customer requirements, delivery and operations activities as well and troubleshooting process for associated equipment. 
  • The Carelflex Specialist performs on-site equipment mobilization, injection and demobilization activities involving chemical tank trucks at the customer site unsupervised by an Arkema employee. 
  • Onsite Carelflex Service performed within many customer facilities working a 12 hour shift with a partner Specialist or team of Driver Technicians.
  • Exercise of duties requires "strict" adherence to safety procedures. Working in customer facilities carries inherent safety risks associated with active chemical/refining industrial environments.
  • Significant travel by car and possibly air will be necessary as a responsibilities include work in the US and Canada.
  • 30-50% travel in off peak seasons (8 months)
  • 70-90% travel in the peak seasons (4 months)  

Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience

  • 2-year Technical degree and or Process Operator Certificate preferred
  • Government issued driver's license
  • Passing a pre=employment physical and background check required
  • Ability to obtain TWIC, Passport and pass random drug/alcohol screening required
  • Minimum of 10years operational experience within a refinery or large Chemical industrial environment
  • ability to obtain Forklift license
  • Experience and understanding of Chemical/Refinery site turnaround activities
  • Direct experience in shipping and receiving of bulk liquid hazardous materials
  • Demonstrated experience handing truck to truck and truck to process unit transfers of flammable and/or odorous chemicals
  • Training in safe work practices and personal protective equipment usage in industrial environments

Demonstrated Competencies

  • Exhibits personal management and organizational skills, ability to multi-task. acknowledge and shift priorities to meet deadlines (Self Starting and Self Supervising with remote support during deployment).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with business leaders, customers and company's technical organization (proficient in Microsoft office Suit)
  • Excellent judgement and problem analysis skills are required
  • Ability to work in 12-hour rotations during Carelflex field operations
  • Trouble shooting skills related to mechanical systems, pumping operations and instrumentation/telemetry equipment
  • Highly motivated team member able to work in or lead a team through a quickly changing pace environment
