Strategic Account Manager – Flex Pack


Situation in organization 

Directly reports to the National Sales Manager in Flex Pack.


Job dimensions

  • Strategic Account Manager will be an integral part of the Flex Pack market segment, which falls under the Advanced Packaging Business Unit of Bostik.
  • SAM will work in tandem with the Flex Market Segment Team; comprised of National Sales Manager, Technical Service, R&D, Customer Service, Business Development, Marketing and Product Line Managers to drive profitable growth and customer satisfaction.


Prominent Responsibilities -

  • Manage existing large and complex accounts by performing regular Business Reviews, Service Plans, Technical & Innovation Forums, Key Account Plans, etc.
  • Acquire new Flex Pack customers by identifying their needs, uncovering opportunities for differentiation and then implementing a strategic sales plan for a win-win situation. 
  • Effectively penetrate customer base to discover customer pain points and growth opportunities.
  • Grow sales by mapping customer applications, identifying key decision makers, developing relationships, and initiating growth projects. 
  • Qualify New Business Development/New Product Development projects and facilitate them to a successful and timely completion
  • Drive revenue and margin growth for new and existing customers.
  • Prospecting: Identify industry leaders, emerging players as well as emerging technologies and develop strategic plans to be on the forefront to drive growth.
  • Effectively plan customer interactions through agendas, establishing clear objectives and goals.

  • Effectively work cross-functionally within the organization.
  • Track and report account activity, build and manage a sales funnel of developing new business.
  • Use sales tools such as SF.com. Brainshark and Highspot – Communication agility.
  • Provide overall leadership for the account and coordinate the involvement of company personnel and resources in order to meet customers’ expectations, account performance objectives and solution development.
  • Lead all significant account planning processes including forecasting, budget development, establishment of income targets, and calling activity.
  • Meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts.
  • Identify, qualify and develop new projects & accounts in accordance with specified targets.


Context and environment

Home office based position, preferably residing in the mid-west or north-east states.



  • Accountable to deliver budget for revenue, MVC, and MVC% for assigned territory.
  • Build and execute an annual territory plan that ensures alignment with business strategy.
  • Responsible for YOY growth in sales from new accounts by X% as determined by market segment.


Qualifications / experience required


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, or Science related field or equivalent experience. 
  • 8 years of combined experience in strategic sales & key account management: calling on large, complex film suppliers, CPG or converting accounts, preferably in the Flexible Packaging industry.
  • Technically astute and well networked within the Flexible Packaging industry.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A team player who can quickly build trustworthy relationships.
  • Demonstrates proactive thinking and strong problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI and SalesForce.com. 
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
