Job Summary:
The Geneseo Plant Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a manufacturing facility that produces organic peroxide products. This role oversees daily plant activities, leads production teams, ensures strict adherence to process safety and environmental regulations, and drives continuous improvement across operations. The position requires strong leadership, deep chemical manufacturing expertise, and a rigorous commitment to safety.
The Plant Fixed Assets ~$80MM; Annual RPE budget of ~$12,MM; Annual Variable Cost Budget in excess of $28,MM; and Annual Capital Budget of ~$2,400,000
Reports directly to the Regional Manufacturing Director, FA/H202. The site consists of roughly 75 employees that work directly or indirectly for the Plant Manager
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management (20%)
Serve as the primary champion of process safety, including management of change (MOC), PSM compliance, hazard analyses, and emergency response planning.
Maintain strict compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA, DOT, NFPA, and other applicable regulations governing organic peroxide facilities.
Oversee inspections, audits, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation.
Promote a culture of safety engagement and accountability at all levels to support Drive to Zero initiative
Plant Operations & Production (20%)
Oversee all plant production activities to meet quality, volume, and delivery targets set forth by Supply Chain
Develop, implement, and monitor operating procedures specific to organic peroxide manufacturing.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of organic peroxide materials in accordance with regulatory classifications and stability requirements.
Optimize production processes to improve efficiency, yield, OEE, and cost performance.
Leadership & Personnel Management (10%)
Lead and mentor plant leadership team, supervisors, operators, maintenance, and technical staff.
Ensure proper training and development programs are executed with focus on chemical safety, process control, and equipment operation.
Manage staffing levels, scheduling, performance reviews, and succession planning.
Manage Union CBA.
Maintenance & Reliability (20%)
Direct preventative and predictive maintenance programs for critical equipment such as reactors, cooling systems, storage vessels, and instrumentation.
Ensure mechanical integrity and reliability in compliance with PSM standards.
Coordinate shutdowns, start-ups, and capital improvements.
Quality & Technical Oversight (20%)
Ensure all products meet internal quality specifications, customer requirements and protect ARKEMA from liability
Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and quality teams on process troubleshooting, scale-up, and new product introductions.
Review technical data, batch records, and analytical results to maintain consistent product performance.
Provides support and resources required to implement, maintain and improve an effective Food Safety Management System.
Supports Loss Control policy, AIMS, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and Responsible Care Management systems.
Financial & Strategic Management (10%)
Develop and manage plant budgets for labor, raw materials, utilities, and capital expenditures.
Identify cost-savings opportunities and lead operational excellence initiatives
Qualifications:
15 years experience in chemcial manufacturing, with at least 5 years in plant or operations leadership
BS in Chemcial Engineering, Chemistry or related field
